Darkness. That's all you see, but it's not the same type of darkness that clouds your mind. This kind of darkness is just that. Darkness.

You feel a slight ache in your neck as you crane it to the side as you start to regain consciousness. A groan escapes your lips as you try to stretch your limbs to find your hands shackled together. Your eyes fly open when the memories of how you ended up wherever you are flash through your mind.

The first thing you notice is that you're in a cave of all places and the opening to it, where sunlight is pouring through, is less than fifty feet away. You look down to see your hands bound tightly with magic-cancelling cuffs.

Where in the fuck am I?

"Our hideout," a voice says, startling you. You jerk your head to the side to be met with a devilishly handsome man with tanned skin and maroon colored hair sitting on the opposite side of the cave petting a goddamn snake as if it's completely normal.

"Did you just read my thoughts?"
"Maybe," he replies.

I can already tell that you're a douche.

"Lovely," he says.

You stare at him with narrowed eyes before you feel your darkness do something weird within your body, and somehow, you know exactly what it is doing.

Can you hear me now, asshole?

You smirk as the man furrows his brows and his eyes widen. "I can't read your mind."

"Yeah, and it's staying that way. Now tell me where the hell I am!" you demand, not letting your voice waver although a load of nervousness is coursing through your veins.

Why am I here? Who is this dude? Is he going to kill me? Maybe he'll feed me to his oversized snake!

"The Oracion Seis's hideout, my dear," a new voice answers as a tall and oddly dressed elder enters the cave.

The Oracion Seis... Where have I heard that name?

"The Balam Alliance," you whisper in shock.

"You're smart. As to be expected of someone with your gift," he says. "My name is Brain and I am the guild master."

"Yeah, I know who you guys are," you speak calmly then raise an eyebrow. "Wait. Gift?"

"You truly don't know." He lets out a deep and malevolent chuckle. "We'll get to that later, sweetheart. All you need to know is that you will behave while you're here, and if you don't, there will be consequences."

You gulp and slightly cower from his intense gaze. Brain smirks triumphantly and turns around to exit the cave. You bring your knees to your chest with your tied wrists leaning on the top. You take a few breaths as you process the information.

You have been taken by one of the top dark guilds where each of their members could wipe out an entire guild. They need you for something, and you have no way to escape. But why? What could someone as tedious as you possibly be able to offer such notorious fugitives?

You flinch when you feel something silky and bumpy rub against your skin. You lift your eyelids to see the giant, violet-colored snake rubbing against your leg. Honestly, you've never been afraid of anything unless it has given you a reason to, and having no encounters with snakes, you don't feel the need to be scared like most people would.

You reach your bound hands down to gently pet the cobra's head and it hisses in pleasure. You crack a small smile, momentarily forgetting your situation as you focus on the eerily beautiful creature.

"Cubellios!" The man's voice breaks the moment and you instinctively snatch your hand away as the snake slithers to where the man is as he now stands angrily with his arms crossed.

"What a dick," you mutter under your breath but he catches it with his enhanced hearing.

"Keep that up and you'll be getting punished," he growls as his pet slithers off deeper into the cave.

"Why so mad? Because you can't read my mind or because your snake likes me more than you?"

"It wasn't a complete surprise that I couldn't read your mind with the shit you have going on in your body," he scowls.

Usually, you were a relatively shy person, so you wouldn't raise your voice at anyone, but being kidnapped for an unknown reasons and being threaten has stirred something up inside of you.

"I wish I knew what that meant, but I'm guessing you won't tell me. Are you my babysitter or something?" you question sarcastically.

"Yes," he sneers, "so behave and this will be over before you know it, darling."

"I do have a name and it's not darling. It's (Y/N) (L/N). Either use it or you'll be getting a hell of a lot of trouble out of me," you reply.

This guy is such an arrogant prick.

"You're in no position to be making demands. There is no way you'll ever be able to escape, so be on your best behavior and this will go smoothly for everyone." There is an evil glint in his purple and black mixed eyes as he speaks that spells out trouble.

"Keep it down. I'm going to take a nap," someone says, interrupting your argument as they enter the cave hovering on a rug. He has short, jet black hair with his red guild emblem displayed on his right arm.

"And the creeps keep coming," you say boredly.

"Watch your mouth," the new dude snaps, causing you to flinch as you feel the unusual magic power radiating from him. He doesn't say another word as he floats away in to the cave.

You now take a proper look around as you see no decor, but there are candles leading farther down the cave where you saw the angry guy go along with the snake. You slump against the rigid wall of the cave and glance at the man leaning against the wall.

I guess I'll have to switch on the charm if I'm going to make any progress.

"Isn't that going to get boring?" you ask nicely.

"It's my job. When night falls, you'll be heavily chained to the wall over there while the rest of us sleep so you can't get away," he says casually.

Your jaw drops. If people are going to go through all the trouble of kidnapping someone, shouldn't they have the decency to get them a mattress, or maybe a blanket?!

"Looking forward to it," you simply reply.

The thing about you is that you accept situations easily. You assess things differently, and when you know nothing can be done at the moment, you make the best of it. It won't be easy to sleep on a rocky surface or endure whatever they have planned, but you know you'll be able to handle it for now. If you play the role of good little prisoner, they might let their guard down.

As much as you can, you relax your body and shut your eyes. All you want to do is sleep and maybe have a nice dream about good times. Sleep is an escape from relatively, even if it only seems to last for a few seconds, and you could use a whole lot of that right now.

Whatever they want from you must be pretty important if you have a person constantly monitoring you and being extremely retrained as to not be able to get away.

But what could they want? You have a decent amount of money, but what about this 'gift'? You have a feeling it has something to do with the darkness and light that plagues your life, but how? You've never spoken a word of it to anyone.

Eventually, you drift back off to a dreamland where something will hopefully be waiting to take you away from your living hell. All you can hope for is that, when you wake up, this will have all been a nightmare.
