Angel looks up and locks eyes with you. In barely an audible whisper, she says, "I don't think I want to do this anymore."

"What the hell are you talking about?" you ask incredulously.

"I never wanted to go along with you guys," she confesses.

Cobra comes up to your side and stares at Angel. "You're the one who said we had to do this together."

"I know!" Angel shouts and throws her arms up in frustration. "It's because I owed you and I wanted to help."

"Sorano," you say slowly. "What's the truth? You made me trust you then I find out you've been lying this whole time!"

"It's not like that! I didn't lie, either. When I said I didn't want to come, it's because I had another plan. I just thought you would need help getting away, so I tagged along," she assures.

"What was your plan?" Cobra asks.

"I want to find my sister. I'm positive she's back in Fiore, but I owed it to help get you guys after everything, so I planned to until we got to Joya, but I thought now would be a good time to depart."

Realization dawns on you and you smile. "You could've told us, Sorano. You didn't have to hide it and you didn't have to come along at all. We know how important your sister is to you."

"I know, I just needed to make sure it went smoothly before leaving. I want you to have everything you deserve," she replies.

You take the next few steps and engulf her in a hug. "I'm going to miss you, but I know our paths with cross again someday."

"There's no doubt in my mind, but I need to do this. I'm sorry," Angel apologizes, squeezing you tighter.

"Don't. You don't have to be sorry. Your sister is important to you and we're not mad about your decision. A little shocked, yes, but never angry."

"Cubellios can help you," Cobra's voice flutters in.

You and Angel pull away and she raises an eyebrow at her former guildmate. "What do you mean?"

Cobra looks down at said snake then back up to Angel. "She can fly you back and search with you. It would be easier. Plus, if anything happens to you or you find you sister, she'll be able to tell us. Cubellios always knows where to find me since we have a bond."

Angel's eyes widen and she jumps at Cobra, throwing her arms around him. "Thank you so much! You know, you were always the big brother I never had."

Cobra returns the hug and cracks a small smile. "I know. We've spent years growing up together. It's going to be weird not having you around."

Angel turns and gestures for you to join them. The three of you stand in a circle and Cubellios slithers around to the middle.

"I'm going to miss you guys, but at least I'll have Cubellios," Angel says.

"And I was under the impression you thought she was stupid," Cobra replies.

"Never," she whispers before glancing between the two of you. "You know, there's this old poem. You and I will meet again when we're least expecting it. One day in some far-off place, I will recognize your face. I won't say goodbye, my friend, for you and I will meet again."

You know now is not the time to cry because this is merely a bump in the road. This is not goodbye, no, this is simply not having someone in your presence before seeing them again. No tears will be shed on this day because then they would be tears of sadness, so you know to save your tears until you meet again. Then, they will be happy tears.

The three of you break apart and you look toward Cobra. "Do you want a minute with Cubellios?"

"Please," he replies and starts walking a few meters away with his best friend trailing him as you and Angel walk the other way.

"I wonder if he'll cry," Angel says.

"There's no reason to. Nothing can separate those two, not even a few countries. Distance is nothing but miles of air," you reply.

"You're right." A smirk graces Angel's face. "So, you and Erik. Alone."

Your eyes widen and you facepalm. "I swear, you intricately planned this out."

"Maybe," she jokes. "Nah, it just occured to me that you two will be alone for a while now. Remember to use protection."

"Oh my Lord. Go! Just leave right now," you shout with a laugh while covering your scarlet face.

"What'd I miss?" Cobra asks coming up to your side.

"Nothing," you mumble.

"We should get going. Daylight is burning," Angel says as Cubellios morphs into her serpent form. Angel hops on Cubellios' scaly back and looks over at you and Cobra with a smile.

"Until next time," she says.

Cobra throws an arm over your shoulders. "Until next time."

"See you later, Cubellios," you say.

You and Cobra wave at your friends as they soar off into the sky in the way you had just come from. Their figures become smaller in the distance and you sigh, seeing the still unconscious bodies of the dark guild members.

"We better go too, before they wake up," you say, securing your bag around you.

"Couldn't agree more," Cobra replies, doing the same as you continue down the trail. "Will you be all right?"

"Of course. The real question is, are you?"

"I haven't been away from Cubellios since I was, I think five-years-old, but I'll survive," he answers, a hunt of sorrowful doubt in his own voice.

You chuckle and playfully nudge his arm with yours. "We'll be fine as long as we have each other, right?"

Cobra smiles. "Right."

After a few more minutes of walking, a thought comes to mind and you slow your pace, causing Cobra to as well.

"I remember my own poem I read in a book before," you say. "My wish for you is that this life becomes all that you want it to. Your dreams stay big and your worries stay small. You never need to carry more than you can hold. And while you're out there, getting where you're getting to, I hope you know somebody loves you and wants the same things too. Yeah, this is my wish."

Cobra doesn't reply and instead lets the impending silence stretch comfortably as your journey continues with only you and the person you've fallen for.
