Jackie's pov
Today is Monday. My first Monday of public school. Already am I regretting this decision. It's too much. If feel so overwhelmed, I want to turn around and walk away. But I can't, the three people that were at the restaurant the other night are making sure that I make it to school. Heck, they even made sure I had all the same classes as them, just so they know I'm still there. It sucks.
So, instead of pouting the whole time, I'd figure I start making my first friends ever.
"Soo, what's your guys names?" I started off. I couldn't ride my skateboard, so Billy kept it at the restaurant, and I felt so slow without it.
"I'm Ashley!" I heard a girl behind me. I look at her, and she seems to look harmless.
"I'm Franklin, ma'am." Piped the smaller boy. He too looks harmless.
"And you already know me, Wendell. The most charming boy in the school, and the most romantic. But you had your chance, just keep-that-in-mind." I came to the conclusion that he's obnoxious.
I gave the Ashley and Franklin a look as if to ask if he's like that all the time. They nodded their heads up and down. Why? I guess I'll have to do with then I suppose.
They told me how they have another friend, the one that was on the other end of the video chat the other night. Said his name is Conor. I never got a good look at him. But What are the chances of him being the same Conor?
I hope it wasn't. I don't know if he's still mad at me.
We all walk in, and a loud crashing noise is heard. I look over to see papers flying, glass shattered, and guys rushing over to clean up the mess as if they already knew something like this would happen.
They all gave me awkward looks. "Welcome to our start of the week." They mumbled, as if wishing that didn't happen as my first impression.
--
It. Was. Horrible. Everything they taught, I already learned about two years ago. It was basic things to me. It was such a slow day. The only thing that was remotely interesting was P.E. I was on my official new friends team. They said if somehow I won the game for them, they would let me into their gang. Well, Franklin said. The others just gave him glares. They huddled and whispered about 'shouldn't Conor get a say in this?' And 'yes, but don't you want to win?'
A bet was made. I won the game with ease.
After school, Franklin thought it would be good to bring me along with them to Conor's house. I wasn't too sure about it though, a strangers house with new people. But they only reassured me.
About half an hour of walking passed, and they turned into a large house. Larger than anything I could dream of. We walked inside, but they told me to wait.
"Why?"
"We want to make sure Conor's decent." Franklin replied.
"Oh please. I've seen a penis before." I said, crossing my arms, clearly unfazed by my words of choice
"Yeah, but I'm sure Conor wouldn't want a girl he's never met to see his manhood." Replied Wendell, being more careful of his own words.
I sighed in defeat, and stood there, taking off my shoes. And setting my bag down where they had put theirs, in the living room. The room itself was about twice the size of my apartment's living room. I began to walk around, not really looking for anything particular. I hear a bunch of footsteps come up from downstairs. I didn't want to get in trouble for snooping around, so I rushed back to my original position.
"Come on Conor, if you're going to go back to school tomorrow, then stop being so lazy!" Demanded Ashley. I walked over to her to see her dragging a teen boy up the stairs. She looked over to me, mouthing the words 'can you help?' I trudged my way over. Ashley had both his arms, the boys had his legs, and I would grab him as soon as possible.
Once they got him to the top step, I grabbed him in my arms. He wasn't too heavy, I've lifted weights three times his weight. It wasn't a big deal.
"Where should I lay him?"
"Just drop him." I gave a confused look.
"Um...why would I do that?"
"It'll wake him up."
I look down at the boy in my arms, and shrugged my shoulder. "What the heck?" I asked in defeat.
Thud
I stepped over the waking boy, waiting by the others. As I lifted my left foot, the guy they called Conor grabbed my ankle, and yanked me back, sending me into falling motion. I landed harshly next to him, my head having the hardest impact. When I finally opened my eyes, I'm met with dark irises, and a very freckled face. A face I thought I would never see again.
"Conor?"
"Who are you?" He had a threatening look in his eyes, he pins me down on the ground underneath him, my wrists above my head and my legs useless. He clenched his jaw in anger. Probably from the fact I'm a stranger in his home, or I had just dropped him on the ground. Maybe both.
But he doesn't recognize me... After all these years, I couldn't forget him, yet he can't remember me. I knew I would always be the girl no body remembers.
"Conor, it's cool. She's with us. We told her to drop you, you wouldn't wake up. Conor, this is Jackie, Jackie this is Conor." Ashley introduced. I try to get up, but he pushes me back down and pins me to the floor. He had my legs and hands both pinned. "Conor, it's alright. Let her go!" He looked into my eyes, and got closer and closer. After a minutes worth of staring into my eyes, our faces only inches apart, he gets up. My blood flowing back throughout my body at a normal rate. He throws out his hand to help me up off the ground.
"Sorry, I thought I recognized you from somewhere."
"Why should you. No one remembers little old me."
He gave me a puzzled look, but we were dragged back downstairs by the others. They were looking through the CDs looking for something to play. But not Conor. He kept a careful eye on me. It was nerve wrecking. I felt so nervous. It was even worse when he stalked over towards my direction. "So, who are you?"
"I-I'm Jackie. But, if you don't like Jackie, you can just call me Jack." I spit out, as fast as I could. He kept inching towards me. The heat of his body now radiates on my own.
"I like it, and Conor, get off of Jack." Demanded Ashley
"Yeah, that's not how you treat my ex!" Declared Wendell
"Oh, you're the girl that went on the date with Wendell the other day?" He asked
"Yeah, you saw me. You heard my name. You've seen me before!"
"Sorry, I couldn't see or hear well. Wait, what did you mean I've seen you before?"
Saying I panicked was an understatement. I don't want him to know! I looked around the room. Looking for something to change the subject... But what?
"Have I seen you before Jack?" He began walking closer to me, his head snaking its way closer to my own, he was about to pin himself onto me against the wall, but I finally found a subject changer.
"Um.... Is that a copy of Far Cry Primal?" I walk over to the case on his desk. It was.
"Yeah, they gave me one, make videos on it. They're sponsoring me for some new equipment."
"I heard the graphics are great! Man, you're so lucky. You've must've worked so hard to get a copy!"
"Well they don't call him KidFury for nothing!" Boasted Franklin.
I looked up at him. Then to Conor. He kept the name I gave him all those years ago. Maybe he isn't mad at me...
"Conor," I thought long and hard, if I was making the right choice, and I was, "you should know me..."
