Janie's POV: It's May already. Tonight's the night. My live show performance. I'm nervous beyond belief. If I screw up, millions of people will see it. I have a dance number planned with my dance team as I sing. I kind of regret doing this. I'm too nervous. A stagehand came backstage and got me and took me to the stage. I took a deep breath. I made sure my outfit was perfect and my wig was snug. I got one for this performance with a few electric blue streaks throughout it, just because. The lights on the stage went dim and the stagehand ran me out as my promo played. I basically talked about what it's been like so far and the diagnosis. The audience couldn't see my yet, but I could see them. I could clearly see my family up in the second level. Mom, Duncan, and Dad. I keep breathing. These 90 seconds could make or break me. Me and my dance team got in position. I stood behind some of the amplifiers we had on stage. The music started and lights went on. I walked out from behind the amps and started singing.
"She's got an alligator bag
Top hat to match
Dressed in black on black
She's got a Philipino girlie
She claims is her friend
I tell you boys you just gotta laugh
Now I used to call her Cindy
She changed her name to sin
I guess that's the name of her game
I really used to love her
Then the kitty she discovered
It's got to be a sexual thing
Now all around the world
Girls will be girls"
The nerves started to calm down. The audience was cheering. My team and I got ready for the chorus.
"It's the same ol', same ol' situation
It's the same ol', same ol' ball and chain
I say no, no, no
No, no, no
Come on!"
It was almost to the point where I let out a huge note. I think I'm prepared, but I'm still nervous.
"You know it'll just be the same
all around the world
Girls will be girls.
WOOOOOOAAAAAHHH!!"
I screamed out. The audience continued to cheer. I finished the song and dance. I was breathing heavily. I took a bow. The audience was standing and cheering. Wow. Now I see why my dad loves what he does. My nerves just suddenly left. I could see myself continuing this. Nick Cannon came out on stage with another mic. "Janie Bowie everyone!" He said. The audience died down. "You look exhausted." He said. "Oh yeah. It's pretty obvious." I said with a chuckle. "Well let's find out what the judges think. Howard?" Nick said. "Janie, I can tell that you sing with a lot of emotion. And the fact that your 13, and are up on that stage right now, singing your heart out, and with a new battle in your life, I can tell you're going to go far, not just in this competition, but in your life." Howard said. "Thank you." I said with a smile. The audience cheered again. "Janie, I still love your voice, and you defiantly have a lot of confidence in yourself now compared to day one. Well done." Heidi said. "Thank you." I said. The audience cheered again. "I'm just speechless again Howie?" Mel said. I laughed. "I told Howard at your audition that you're going to win and I'm sticking to that. You young lady, are a star." Howie said. "Thank you." I said, still smiling. "So Janie, what are your thought at this time?" Nick asked. "I just have to say thank you to the judges and to everyone else for helping me get up here in the first place, and it's a huge honor just to be here. If it wasn't for my dad especially, I never would have even considered coming here at all. Thank you so much." I said. Nick gave all the information to vote for me and I gestured the number to call towards the camera. When the show went to commercial, I went backstage to the Snapple lounge with the other acts competing tonight. Tomorrow's the first results of the season. I'm nervous...
