The Real Story

It wasn't very late but it was dark and I was in my pajamas. Bucky had something to do, so I was home alone. I turn on the TV and go on Netflix to watch a movie. I get a blanket and I put popcorn in the microwave. I rummage through the fridge. The house phone rings. Nobody really calls us, usually only neighbors in other apartments that need help. "Hello?" I pick up the phone looking at the time.

"Hi Cait, it's Steve."

"Hey, what's up?" The microwave dings.

"Nothing really. I have a question to ask you."

"Okay," I put the popcorn in a bowl and add some salt. "What is it?"

"How did you get here?"

"What do you mean?" I grab a soda and a slice of leftover pizza.

"You're from my time right?"

"Correct...."

"So how are you here? Did you freeze like me?"

•••Flash Back•••
"Caitlyn, are you sure you want to do this?" Howard Stark asks as he pushes some buttons.

"Yes sir." I step into the capsule.

"Caitlyn," Peggy grabs my hand and pulls me toward her. "I lost the love of my life and I don't want to lose you too. Steve was very dear to me and so are you. You are my hope, I need you Caitlyn."

"Mom, I want to do this. It might be the scientific break through of the century! And if I don't make it, you know I'll be with Steve." She hugs me and cries.

"I love you." She wipes tears from her face. I step into the capsule and turn around to face her.

"I love you too, mom."

"Ready Caitlyn?" Stark looks up at me as his hand is put on a lever. I nod. He takes a deep break and pulls the lever. A foggy mist forms at the bottom. In five seconds BOOM! The whole capsule exploded. The place was on fire and in rubble. I blacked out.

•••Reality•••
"Uh...I was the test dummy during a failed science experiment. I was put into hyper sleep, which is basically a really long coma. Why?" I grab a seat on the couch and look at movies.

"I was just doing something and I just wanted to know."

"Okay then...."
*Awkward Silence*

"So how's the Loki thing going?"

"Good, we are arming all buildings from Wall Street to Broadway. He's or we are going to attack with a small army and he's planning to freeze all of New York, but Fury's got that covered." I put on a movie and eat some popcorn.

"Okay...how's the Zac, Mason thing going?"

"Uhhh...okay I guess. I don't know."

"Okay, just checking in on you. I love you."

"Love you too, Steve. I miss you!"

"I miss you too, doll."

"Love you, bye."

"Bye."

I hang up the phone and put it back. I start watching the movie and take a bite out of the left over pizza and take a swig of Coca-Cola. In the middle-ish end-ish part of the movie I start to fall asleep knowing that Bucky will be home soon.

I unlock the apartment door and walk in to see Caitlyn asleep on the couch. I walked over to see that she was SOUND ASLEEP! I tried to wake her up but it didn't do much. I lift her up (bridal style) and take her to her room. I lay her on her bed and put blankets on her. I look at her in amazement. Wow. She is the most beautiful little girl I've ever seen. Steve must be a good dad. I walk over to where I've been sleeping and get comfy. Deep inside I was scared too.
