~~~Time Skip~~~
~~Readers POV~~
It's been a few hours since we first started to read about he underground, and so far, Kara and I have learned a great deal. We leant about the war that took place between monsters and humans... But from the monsters perspective . We learnt the same war in school, but it was nothing to how the monsters saw it...
"Wow, we never learned about this in school..." Kara said, closing another book and placing it down.
"I know... It really puts out own species into a new view." I said, picking up another book and placing it in my lap. "I don't understand... Monsters didn't do anything wrong... Even in our textbooks. Why did we drive then down here?" I mumbled.
"That's the question I wanna know too." Sans suddenly said as he sat forward in the couch. He must have just woke up and overheard is again.
"Sorry, Sans." Kara said.
"Did we wake you up?" I asked.
"Nah... You guys didn't." He yawned.
An awkward silence filled the air between all three of us for a short while.
"So... We caught up with all the books." I said breaking the silence.
"Did you,now?" He asked. (He sounds Sarcastic someone slap him!)
"Yup. We're caught up with the history of this place." My twin added.
"Well, from the books standpoint." He said.
We both looked at him with confusion. "What do you mean?" We asked in sync. Sans let out a chuckle. "Those books do tell the history of the Underground, but there not accurate up until last year." He said.
"What happened last year?" I asked.
He let out a sigh before he looked back to us again."Listen, I'm not a fan of long stories... So I'm going to cut it down as much as I can so you too can know. " He looked at us before he continued. "Last year... We were close to breaking the barrier that holds us to the underground. It takes seven human souls, and one strong monster soup to break it, and, well, we had six souls. Then one day, another human came by. Their name was "Frisk "... And we thought for sure that this human would be the one to break us out. "
I could feel my chest go numb. The way he said the last sentence... He sounded almost heartbroken by it.
"What happened?" Kara asked.
"I'm not too sure. They showed every monster mercy... Except for our king. I don't know the details... But it does seem that they killed him, and used his soul cross the barrier. As for the other six souls... We have no idea where does went either. They disappeared without a trace. " He said. I could feel my heart sink more and more. "After that discovery of our deceased king and the missing souls, The Queen came back and tried to pass a law saying that all humans that far would be treated as friends. However... The head of the Royal Guard at the time, Undyne, disagreed with her, and lead a rebellion to over throw for her. She succeeded, and is now the current ruler of the Underground. Our queen left, and hasn't been heard from since." He's talking about Toriel... Isn't he? He looked to the ground as he let out another sigh and then looked over to us again. "You two are the first humans to fall down here since Frisk, so Undyne is going to be hunt you two down like a shark. But like I said, don't worry too much about it. I'm still keeping my eye sockets on you two... But still be extra careful in some areas, alright?" He smiled.
We both nodded, but after he was done talking... I just couldn't help myself. I placed the books off of me and I stood up. I walked over to Sans and then leaned over to give him a hug. I felt him tense at my action – weird– but that only caused me to tighten my grip. After losing so much hope in such a short time... There has to be something we can figure out to bring it back. I didn't want to see Sans are any of the other monster suffer any more.
"Sans, I promise, we will figure something out to break that barrier. We will find anyway to befriend Undyne, and we will find a way to get everyone back to the surface. I promise." I said, with DETERMINATION! And Love.
I felt him relax more, and in response, I tightened my grip more. I'm kind of glad that he's just a skeleton, then otherwise he would be confident about me squishing is lungs. I felt him place one arm around me weekly.
"Thanks for the comfort, kid" He said.
I then release my grip and then stepped away from him. When I did, I couldn't help but to notice some trace of colour on his cheek bones. Blue, to be exact. Is he blushing? Can skeletons blush? I asked myself. I quickly dismissed day and sat down, because one: it doesn't really seem that unusual... After all, he is a little on the walking skill in. And to: the hug was kind of an expected, so I understand if he wasn't prepared for it.
I heard Kara mumble something under her breath.
"What was that?" I asked.
"Oh, nothing" She smirked.
I raised my eyebrow at her smirk. Why is she smiling?
~~~Sans POV~~~
What in the Underground was that?? I asked myself as (Y/N) sat back down.
When she came up to hug me, I felt that sensation in my chest come and go again, only this time it was a little bit stronger. What was that?! I couldn't possibly have a crush, right? I only met her yesterday! It can't be! (It is if I say so Sansy~)
I looked back over to her and her sister. Both of them are now talking about something, but I wasn't really paying attention. I looked over to (Y/N), and I thought my mind started to wonder. She looks so much more different than Frisk. Well... I didn't expect all humans to look alike, but she is just so much more different. I can tell that she's older than Frisk, much older. Maybe at least eight years old? (Older if you want reader-chan)But she has a unique aura around her. How can I describe it... Pure, maybe? I'm not sure.
I looked over to her sister, and instantly fell another twin just see you go through me. Her aura is completely opposite of (Y/N)s. They look exactly the same, but I can instantly tell just from the vibes that they give of who was who, and that they are completely different.
I have that my gaze from them and close my eyes again, listen to that voice is talk. I could hear both of them talking right next to me, but the voice I could still hear was (Y/N) S, repeating outcome is in my head. I personally gave up searching for a way to escape a long time ago. But that though it onto used made me question that old sort of given up... That it's all hopeless. I slightly opened my eyesockets and shifted my gaze to her again. After another second, I closed them again and now letting a small smile cross my face as i sunk into the couch. (I thought you always smiled?)
It's amazing... The promise that she made me feel something deep inside of my soul that I can't haven't felt in such a long time...
Hope.
