Hey guys. I am so sorry, that it's been so long since I've updated. #boardingschoollife. I don't have much time to write, but I'm using my author class today on writing instead of working on one of my books, but still I haven't much time, so it's not a long update, but it's something. I'll see if I can't write a bit during Easter break. I'll (also) see if I can't work out a schedule so I can update regularly. and you guys don't care... Well then... read on.

Chapter quote – THE IDEA IS TO DIE YOUNG AS LATE AS POSSIBLE

September 1st 1977

Potter manor

Lily P.O.V

"I'm going back to Hogwarts" Was my first thought when I woke up. I hurried out into the bathroom, took a shower, curled my hair, put on a small layer of make-up on, pulled on some black shorts and a neon green top and took on my five centimetre heels. I minimised my boxes, put them in my trunk and levitated my trunk downstairs, before following it. It was strange how close I had gotten to Potter manor during these few days that I'd been here. The boys were already downstairs, waiting for me.

In the car

James P.O.V

Lily looks so beautiful today and she does not mind me being Head Boy. Who would have thought that would ever happen? She looks so relaxed and she's friends with my friends. Not many girls accept my friends. She accepts all of them, Sirius and his crappy family, Peter and his nervousness and Remus and his thing with not being close with many people. Its's important. How could I ever be with a girl who did not like my friends? How have I never thought about this before? Girls I tried dating to either forget Lily or make Lily jealous always ignored Peter, frowned upon Remus' every action and either despised or swooned over Sirius.

THIRD point of view

Lily stepped out of the car and the boys followed her. They ran through the wall; entering platform 9 3/4. A second later Lily was tackled into a huge hug from Alice. She laughed, "Hey Alice." Alice was bouncing, "Hey Lil. Come on, Marlene already claimed a compartment, get your stuff away and let's go." Lily grinned, "Aliice." Alice looked again, her eyes finally noticing the badge on Lily. "YES! We told you, you would get it. BEST YEAR EVER! You're Head Girl and we're seventh years. Though wait, then you're moving out of our dorm." Lily nodded, "Yeah, it's sad, but just because we won't live together anymore, we still have classes together and you are still my best friend. Now. Best year ever?" Alice grinned, "BEST YEAR EVER!!" Lily laughed, levitated her trunk and the boys' and flew them in to the train. "You lead the way." Alice grabbed Lily's hand and they hurried to the train. Remus, Sirius and James were talking to Peter who had arrived as well, but James could not help looking back over his shoulder after Lily. She turned around as well and caught his eye; she smiled before turning her attention back to Alice. James smiled to himself and returned his attention to his friends.

Lily were laughing to herself as she headed to the Heads compartment; she passed the compartment with the boys. She slid the door open and grinned at the mess; candy all over. "James, Rem, the meeting is in five minutes. Might wanna get a move on." Sirius and Peter cracked up, when Remus and James jumped to their feet. Lily rolled her eyes and muttered: "Boys."

HEADS COMPARTMENT

"Hello everyone. As you probably all know, my name is Lily Evans and Professor Dumbledore has made me Head Girl this year and you all know James Potter, who is your Head Boy." Snape sneered, "He wasn't even a prefect." Lily rolled her eyes, "Really. Wow. I had no idea. I thought he'd been my fellow prefect for the past two years not Remus. Severus please shut up and behave." She put a smile back on her face and started going over the rules and the usual stuff. At soon as the meeting was over she dropped in a seat, resting her head on Remus' shoulder. Remus grinned down at her, "You did great Lil. Much better than many other Head Girl we've had." Lily pulled herself up with a half grin, half sigh, "You're a terrible liar, Remmy, but thanks." She opened the door and left. Remus looked over at James who just stared out into the air. Remus grinned, "James?" James eyes were torn, his face distressed, "I can't be Head Boy. Lily completely took care of everything. I'm a rule breaker. I'm every teachers, prefects and Head Students worst nightmare." Remus sighed, pulled James up from his seat. "Mate, you know every rule there is, so you just need to be on the other side of the law. Lily took care of it today, sure, but it was the first meeting. There'll be plenty of times where you can prove yourself. Don't think so much." James grinned, the familiar smirk back, Remus breathed a sigh of relief, and James said, "You're right. Now let's get the others and start planning a prank for good ol' Snivellus." Remus raised an eyebrow. James grinned, "I'm kidding. I have grown up a bit you know." Remus followed James saying, "I was more thinking, you didn't want to jeopardize this half friendship thing you've got with Lily. Despite the fact that she's no longer friends with Snape, doesn't mean she won't get mad."

The girls' compartment:

"So Lily who's your fellow Head? Who are you living with for the next year?" Alice asked the smirk she was wearing evident in her voice.

"Is it Diggory? He'd be a dishy treat for the year." Marlene questioned.

Lily rolled her eyes, "It's Potter."

"WHAT?!" Alice exclaimed. "And you didn't think this was crucial information that we'd want to know the very second you knew?"

Marlene nodded. "Yeah. I thought you lived there during the summer, long enough for you to know that he was Head Boy and definitely for you to be on first names with the boy."

Lily rolled her eyes but a blush was covering her face. The faults of a red head. "We're, well sort of friends, I think."

Marlene raised an eyebrow, "Talk about being vague. I'll get it out of you missy. Now I have a snogging date, so if you'll have me excused."

Alice questioned, "Do you two ever do anything besides snog?"

Marlene raised an eyebrow. Alice being Alice wasn't faced. "And fucking." Marlene put a hand over her mouth in fake disbelief. "Language, Alice. How could you ever think such a thing about us? I mean, Sirius and I? We're the most innocent people of Hogwarts." With that, she left, leaving Alice and Lily to discuss Frank, James and the whale, also known as Vernon.

DARK CORNER OF THE HOGWARTS TRAIN:

Sirius' mouth caught Marlene and she was lost to his touch again. His lips placed fleeting kisses down her neck, her fingers in his hair, surrendering each other willingly to the others touch. "We should... we're almost at Hogwarts." She said. He nodded. "Of course." Nonchalantly he helped her get up from where she sat. Marlene didn't know why, but for some reason she started thinking about Sirius behaviour. This wasn't how she wanted to start her seventh year, but she couldn't help thinking. He never really gave of any impression that he cared. Why should she be with someone that didn't love her? Sirius noticed her expression, "What's wrong Mar?" She shook her head, "It's just... It's just you always behave as if it doesn't mean anything Sirius." Sirius shrugged, "That's just how I am Mar, you know that." Marlene's eyes glistened, "Yeah well I...how am I supposed to be with someone that doesn't give a damn." Sirius frowned, "Mar..." She shook her head, "Don't Mar... me, Sirius Black. I just need... a breathing pause. Set things in perspective." Sirius grabbed her arm as she made to go. "Let go of me." She said and when he didn't loosen his grip, she ripped her arm free and hurried back to her friends.

Sirius stared after her. He had no idea what had brought this on. He thought she knew. Sirius weren't one to show how he felt; he thought she knew that. A single tear fell from his left eye, but he dried it away and wandered back to his friends, his family, the only people he really needed.
