Welcome back ball - part one

It was Friday morning and everyone was waiting for Dumbledore to talk, so that they could get their breakfast. Dumbledore smiled out to everyone: "Good morning everyone. Today is a different day. As some of you are already aware of we're having a welcome back ball, and we have decided, who is coming with who. That will be a surprise for later, but lessons have been canceled today and the clothes we wish you to wear have been brought to your rooms and is on your beds. We wish you to prepare and be in the great hall at five sharp. Tonight we wish you to have a great time. We will have no arguments and no bad behavior. Everyone stays til the end of the night. The welcome back ball is for 5th, 6th and 7th year. Enjoy breakfast.

"Really, what kind of ball is this, everyone stays and them deciding who we go with. I mean really." Lily said. "Lily, calm down, just enjoy, you can get the best of every situation" Marlene tried to reason with her friend. "I'll try, but it's hard, when you look like an idiot". What are you on about, you don't look like an idiot" Alice barged into the conversation. "We're probably wearing dresses, and I can't look good in that" Lily claimed. Emmeline Vance and Mary Mcdonald, their two other roommates, said: Lily, that's rubbish and you know it". "Now come on, we have to go get ready". The girls went towards their dormitory.

The boys went to their dormitories, knowing that they would have a great night, no matter what. The marauders could always have fun. They came up to their room, and the most beautiful dress robes were on their beds. At four, thirty they put them on and looked absolutely dashing and made their way down to the great hall.

When the girls arrived to their dormitories, there were the most beautiful dresses on their beds and they used the entire day making their hair and makeup and at last put on their dresses. They arrived in the great hall moments later. Alice, the 2nd most beautiful that night, in a long beautiful pink dress looking great with her brown hair and dark blue eyes. Mary, the 5th most beautiful that night, in a just under the knees light purple with hints of silver looking smart with her blonde hair and brown eyes. Marlene, the 3rd most beautiful that night, in a dark, dark long blue, hints of light blue dress looking fancy with her blonde with hints of light yellow hair and blue eyes. Emmeline, the 4th most beautiful that night, in a hot long red dress looking fantastic with her black hair and green, soft eyes. At last but not least Lily, the most beautiful that night, in a long gorgeous black with many hints of gold and hazel dress looking amazing with her fiery red hair and hazel green eyes.

Everybody's eyes were on them when they walked down the stairs. Those five girls looked like they owned the place. James and Sirius would have laughed at that, if it hadn't been that James couldn't take his eyes of Lily and Sirius couldn't take his eyes of Marlene. Though these two weren't the only ones looking at those two girls with love in their eyes. Severus couldn't believe how beautiful Lily looked and Liam with Marlene.

Mcgonnagal came and started talking. "There are tables with room for 10 people each. The first 5 pairs I mention sits at a table together and so it goes. I will hear no complaining. The first five pairs stand here before they go in and then the next five and so on. Listen for your names. Mr. Frank Longbottom and Miss. Alice Prewett". Alice and Frank stepped forward grinning merely at each other. "Mr. Remus Lupin and Miss. Emmeline Vance". Remus and Emmeline didn't have a problem, so it wasn't a problem and they stepped forward. Lily on the other hand didn't like were this was going. "Mr. James Potter and Miss. Lily Evans" Lily knew it was coming, so she stepped forward with James. James had a smile all over his face. Lily couldn't help but smile at this. Maybe the night would be okay. "Mr. Sirius Black and Miss. Marlene Mckinnon" Marlene send a smile at Liam before stepping up to Sirius and Sirius, just like James, had a smile all over his face. He knew he had a chance at winning her over this night. Mr. Peter Pettigrew and Miss. Mary Mcdonald" Mary stepped forward and Peter was rather nervous, because he'd had a crush on her for a year. The five pairs stepped in and sat down.

There was a tension, while they ate. Remus, Emmeline, Alice and Frank were the only ones talking. Dumbledore's voice cut through the air: "Gentlemen grab your ladies. Everybody dance. The tables vanished at once, and a band started playing the most romantic tune. All pairs went to the dance floor.

Lily stared into James' eyes. She smiled at him. James' heart melted at the sight of her beautiful smile. "You look beautiful, Lily" "Thanks, you don't look the worst yourself". James smiled at her words. He felt someone staring at them and turned his face to see Snape staring at them with jealousy all over her face. James knew what he saw in Snape's face. What James also knew was that Lily had no idea of Snape's feelings for her. James turned his head and saw Marlene and Sirius dancing close. James smiled. Padfoot knew what he was doing.

Marlene had no idea, what had led to this close dance, she was having with Sirius. She looked him in the eyes and she knew that she loved him, but they couldn't be together. Sirius was in for the chase, not the relationship. She turned her face and saw Alice and Frank dancing. They were so good together.

"You look amazing, Alice" Even though Alice was used to these compliments from Frank, she blushed slightly and mumbled a small thanks, before looking away. She saw Emmeline dancing with Remus. They're kinda cute together, she thought.

Emmeline liked Remus a lot, but he was always hiding away. She wondered, if he liked her. Maybe she should just go for it. She was a Gryffindor after all. "Hey Remus, I have a confession to make" "Yeah" "I..um..I like you, like a hole lot" she blushed. Remus decided to throw away all procession and he bent over and kissed her. Emmeline didn't take him for that kind of a guy, but she was happy. He liked her back.

James and Sirius sent a knowing look at one another as they saw Remus kiss Emmeline and Peter kiss Mary.

Sirius asked" Marlene, do you wanna be my girlfriend?" "NO, I am dating Liam. You know that. I knew you would go and do something like that" Marlene replied before storming over to Alice.

At the same time Sirius asked Marlene, James asked Lily the very same question. Different answer though. Lily couldn't believe, that he would even ask. "No" was the only reply he got, though she had tears in her eyes, when she ran towards Alice.

Marlene and Lily reached Alice at the same time. Alice said to Frank, you deal with your friends. I take care of mine. And with that she got her two crying friends up to the common room.
