Lily and Marlene avoided James and Sirius until Christmas. They all went home for Christmas except for Sirius and Marlene. When Lily entered the common room, she saw Black and Marlene sit together and talk, like friends? Marlene caught Lily's eye and jumped of. "Lily, you're back. How was your holiday?" "Great, just great" Lily mumbled before going up to her dorm. A second after Marlene followed. "Okay, Lily, I know what that looked like, but we're not dating. We just sort of became friends". Lily's eye's were on fire. "Friends?. If I must remind you. Two weeks ago when I left you hated him". "I know, I know and I don't know what happened, but I couldn't keep ignoring him, when there was no one else to talk to" Before Lily could answer, she heard noise from the common room and ran right downstairs, and into Alice's arms. "OMG, I have so much to tell you" Lily's voice got low and she whispered, "about Petunia". Alice turned around to the marauders, who were watching them suspiciously. "Sorry guys, this is important". Marlene came down. "Couldn't you have used me". Lily stared at her. "No, not just yet. You know me, you knew this". Marlene looked sad. "I know, but.." "No, but, you knew, you knew and ..... no, I'm not gonna waste my breath" Lily dragged Alice upstairs and instantly started telling her about how Petunia had showed them a picture of some bloke and said that it was her boyfriend and that was all. Alice having had a hard time following Lily's rambling nodded and said: "Do you think he's made up then? Was he so good looking, that Petunia could have never had scored him?" Lily laughed, Alice knew what she was doing. "No, he's real enough, he looked positively awfull" Lily grinned. Alice nodded and very serious said: That explains it then". Lily burst out laughing.
Down in the common room Marlene looked at the stairs to the dorm, where her friends were laughing and exchanging stories. "Hey Marlene don't worry. She'll come 'round", Sirius tried being comforting. Marlene smiled sadly. "You don't know that. You don't know Lily. She'll never be able to hate me, but she can ignore me and not be my friend. That's the thing, if you've been let into Lily's heart, she'll always be there for you, defend you, comfort you and love you, but as long as you don't need her, She'll ignore you, if you've done something she can't forgive". The marauders hardly believed what they heard. That's not how Lily seemed on the outside world.
Lily did forgive Marlene, and Marlene stayed friends with Sirius, nothing more. Lily was anxious about her OWL's, and studied like a maniac.
NONE OF WHAT SEEM FAMILIAR BELONGS TO ME. AWFULL writing I know, sry. You probably know the whole scene were Snape calls Lily a m......d, so I'm going to jump to sixth year. Next chapter will be on the train back to Hogwarts and Blackinnon hasn't broken up.
