Before Exams - Chapter 14

Lily and James were released the day after and a lot of people came up to James asking how he dared to be hit by the cruciatus curse. James enjoyed the attention and Lily, well she didn’t, but she got it. There was so many girls who came with comments such as:  “You´re my new hero” “Could you teach me how to do that” “You´re amazing Lily” Eventually Lily had had enough and asked Marlene and Alice why they had to tell everybody. Marlene could inform Lily that they hadn’t, Sirius had. Lily whirled around, there was Sirius, and then he just went. “Evans, the new Hogwarts hero, you´re very welcome.” Lily glared at him and Marlene sensing that Sirius may be in danger of a Lily attack, pulled Lily bag down on the couch and informed Sirius, that Lily was less then pleased with her newfound fan base. Sirius shook his head in mock, “Evans, Evans, you need to learn to great attention welcome.” Lily continued glaring at him, as if she was wondering whether to strangle him or hex him. Muggle fashion or wizard style.

The next day Lily was walking by herself, when 20 Slytherins came and surrounded her. “So mudblod, you were just great with your wand work and filthy muggle tricks.” Lily trying to think of a plan said coolly: “If you knew they were muggle tricks, then you can´t be more worth than muggles.” This extremely ugly Slytherin stared at her with all the hatred in the world.

At that very moment, Peter was walking around with the map, and he saw the dot L. Evans surrounded by many Slytherin dots. Peter ran, probably the fastest he´d ever run in his entire life, and when he reached the other marauders, he had no breath, so he just handed James the map. Sirius was laughing at Peter´s look, his little round face all red and sweaty. James was staring at the map, and then he dropped it and he ran as his life depended on it. Remus picked it up and said: “Padfoot, are you ready to battle some Slytherins?” Sirius turned his attention to Remus, who held up the map, so he could see. “Bloody hell, and Prongs just, Peter find Alice and tell her,” Sirius muttered and then he and Remus ran. Peter quickly found the girls and soon they were on their way.

The Slytherin said: “Think you´re so bloody clever, do you” and all of them started firing unforgivable curses at Lily, but they all bounced off. She´d put up a protection spell. Lily smiled at them, “Yes, actually I believe I´m extremely clever.” Then she sat down, as in a way of telling them, you can fire your curses, but the time it takes you to break my shield, gives me time to think of a plan. They started trying to break her shield, and she tried figuring out what to do, and in that very moment James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, Alice and Marlene turned around the corner, and they all stared at Lily sitting casually, quickly they realized that it wouldn’t be long before they broke through her shield. The Slytherin that had talked talked again: “See little mudblod, your friends has come to save you. Won´t be to much use, because we´re way more than you.” Lily answered as he´d just proclaimed the weather: “Didn’t help you much last time, now did it?” James and Sirius exchanged a look, Lily knew where to hit, and she hit hard. The Slytherin said: “How dare you? That was luck, pure goddamn luck!” Lily laughed him in the face, while she thought, how stupid can you be, no one knocks out six people, because their lucky.

Now the marauders-Peter, who had gone after Dumbledore + the girls, started firing hex´s at the Slytherins. 19 of the Slytherins turned at them, except Mr. Talking Slytherin, who kept trying to get through to Lily. They were almost done with the Slytherins, when he broke through the shield. He pointed his wand at her and yelled “Sectumsempra.” Snape had taught him that. Lily fell to the floor, but managed to throw a leg-binding spell at him, so he fell as well. Lily dazed of, couldn’t see clearly, it was as if she was vanishing, she thought. In the moment she fell, James ran over to her, desperately trying to heel the many wounds that were opening. In the same second Dumbledore appeared. “Peter, get professor McGonagall, she´ll have to deal with these Slytherins. Lupin, Black, go find Snape. James, Marlene, Alice, I need to get her op to the hospital wing. If you would let go, please.” But James refused, he lifted Lily gently and ran carried her up to Madam Pomfrey. They all stood by Lily´s bed, feeling utterly hopeless, when Remus and Sirius came with Snape. He hissed: “What is it?” Then he saw Lily, and broke down, he was very close to tears, he pointed his wand at her and three times said, the incantation: “Vulnera Sanentur” and then told Professor Dumbledore to use dittany and then he ran away, not being able to look at Lily any longer. They all looked at Lily, they were all amazed that she´d stopped the Slytherin from escaping, but it was hard to see Lily looking so pale and wounded, even for Sirius and Peter, who never really talked to her. Madam Pomfrey came and dragged them out of there.
