Summer before NEWT's. Part 1

Marlene, Alice and Lily were sitting on the train, as they realized this was the last time they were leaving for summer holiday, next year the were 7th years and when they left then they weren’t coming back. It was it. Last shot at enjoying the most amazing place on earth. However, the girls weren’t dwelling, not yet after all time was still there. Now another amazing summer holiday were ahead of them, okay Lily dreaded Petunia but still…

James P.O.V

With the other marauders, I walked into the girls´ cart. They were giggling, and Lily were blushing. She looked so beautiful, her hair just dropped perfectly and her eyes sparkled and… I stopped my rambling thoughts, Lily wasn’t mine, but we had improved greatly this year, I think it is safe to say that we´re friends. However, after the summer vacation it is my last chance to win her over completely, if I didn’t we probably wouldn’t keep contact much, except when we´re with Marlene and Sirius. Padfoot broke the silence that had been since we came into their cart, okay broke the silence is perhaps a little much said, he pretty much just smashed himself onto Marlene. Alice sighed, and muttered something about idiots and finding Frank and then she left. Remus sat down next to the turtledoves, Peter wasn’t here, none of us knew where he were, and I sat down next to Lily. She is so beautiful, I thought.

Lily P.O.V

He is sitting right there, next to me, No, no stop it Lily, you´re not nervous about James freaking Potter. Sure he´s been nice lately, but we CAN NOT be more than friends, I mean, he spent so long just trying to get me to go out with him, just to make fun of me, so I can´t do this. It doesn´t even matter, that he has his cute messy hair, and his smile and… Ugh, I am not thinking about this, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

3RD PERSON P.O.V

They all stepped of the train, all going home, Alice with Frank for the holidays, Mary and Emmeline going to Mary´s, the marauders and Marlene going with James, and Lily going home by herself. They embraced and said their goodbyes.

Lily walked in the door as she wondered what was happening since mom and dad normally always were welcoming her home, same minute she walked in the door, but nobody was there. Then her sister, Petunia, came from the living room with a grave look on her face. “Hello Lily” She said. “What happened Petunia?” Lily asked. “Mom, she died last week. Dad is out arranging her funeral. It is on Tuesday.” Petunia replied. Lily stared at her in shock, before I crouched down crying. “Lil, who can you go to, you can´t be here, while we prepare for moms funeral.” Petunia asked. Lily didn’t have it in her to argue, just mumbled: “Marlene.” Petunia went for the phone and dialed Marlene´s number. “Hello, is this Marlene Mckinnon?” Petunia asked. “No, Marlene is at the Potters.” Was the reply. Petunia asked, “Do you have a number for them?” Petunia got the number and dialed again. “Hello, is this James Potter?” Petunia asked. “Yes, who is this?” James replied fighting Sirius in the end. “Can I please have a word with Marlene Mckinnon?” Petunia asked. “Sure” James replied handing the phone to Marlene. “Hello” Marlene said. “Hello Marlene, can you come here now.” Petunia asked. In the other end Marlene stood dumbfound, “Petunia?” She asked. “Yes” Petunia said annoyed, “Now can you please come here, Lily needs you. Can she stay with you until Tuesday morning and can you come collect her NOW please.” Marlene turned to James, “Can Lily come here until Tuesday morning?” James stared at her, Lily, here, at his house, but replied casually. “Yes, of course.” Marlene answered Petunia and a second after Marlene apperated away to go get Lily.

Marlene arrived at the Evans house and found Lily on the floor crying with Petunia next to her. “Just get her out of here, tell her that she needs to be there at 10 a.m. Goodbye” Petunia said and left the room. “Shit, shit, Lily what are you crying about. Calm yourself and talk to me.” Marlene mumbled. “Mar, my mom is dead” Lily whispered. “Oh, Lily, I am so, so sorry.” Marlene replied. Marlene grabbed hold of Lily and apperated to James´. Marlene had her arms wrapped around Lily as they walked up to the house. Lily didn’t really notice much around her, she had a feeling that all of the marauders were looking at her with worry, as Marlene led her through the house and into a room. “It´s going to be okay. Get some sleep okay, I´m going to come and check on you in a couple of hours, then we can talk, okay?” Marlene said.

Marlene walked downstairs, and found all four boys sitting in the living room. Marlene went over and sat down next to Sirius. “What´s the matter?” Marlene wondered how much she should tell them, but decided that the more they knew, the less risk were there that they would say something wrong. “Lily´s mom died. I don’t really know the circumstances or anything, because I thought I would give Lily some time to collect herself, but I´m worried about Lily. In some way she´s gonna find a way to blame herself, and she doesn’t really need to lose anybody. Lily doesn’t trust people easily, because after what happened with her sister, than she got afraid of getting hurt. It took time before she trusted Alice and I completely. Then the entire thing got worse in fifth year with Snape, and now she´s starting to lose her family as well. She blamed herself about Petunia, because she was a witch, and she thinks she should have prevented Snape from going over to the dark arts and it just, she doesn’t deserve it, because none of it was her fault.” The boys all sat struck, they actually all of them wanted to do everything they could to help Lily.
