Chapter 46. (Missed Opportunities.)

Nervously tapping his hands in his foot glancing in the distance to see a familiar face. He reaches and takes a sip from his coffee then checks the time.

Louis : "where is he? He should be here by now"

He looks up again and in walks Alan dressed impeccable in his usual suit another man trailing behind him. Louis gets up gesturing the two men to join him upting to shake the man's hand before settling once again in his seat.

Alan : "Louis this is Mr. Upton who I was telling you about"

Louis : "it's nice to meet you Sir, can I just say I'm so thankful for this opportunity"

Mr. Upton : "please call me, Trevor and it's nice meeting you as well. I have to say it's an honour to meet someone with such talent. I've been following your career for years, it's nice to finally see you're taking this step once again"

Alan : "Louis had a drastic change in heart" (chuckles) "he's a changed man"

Louis : "I've just seen what I wanted in life s'all"

Mr. Upton : "I must say I'm very excited you've finally chosen to work with us"

Louis : "it was always my dream to become part of the team I wouldn't have it any other way"

Mr. Upton : "you have an impressive record Mr. Tomlinson and you're past coaches have nothing but incredible things to say."

Alan : "I only give the best Trevor"

Mr. Upton : "oh how right you are"

Louis : "so does this mean..."

Mr. Upton : "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't my boy"

Alan : "Trevor is here to finalize the deal but the written contract will come in the next month. However the only set back is there will have to be two recruiters who would come by requesting to see you play. I will organize an event with your past team, I'm sure the lads would love to have their old captain back. You've already impressed us now all you have to do is win them over and the spot is yours. When the time comes we will go over your negotiations involving payment and all that but looks like you'll be united's new front man hopefully by next year"

Mr. Upton : "I have no doubt about it"

Louis : "this is just so.." (choked) "I can't believe this is happening"

Alan : "incredible things happen to incredible people Louis"

Louis : (in tears) "I can't thank you both enough for this"

Mr. Upton : "I'm sure we owe you a thank you Mr. Tomlinson we are so fortunate to even have a shot of having you on our team"

Alan : (smiles) "I've told you so many ti-" (phone starts ringing) "is it me?" (pats pockets and takes out phone realizing it's not his ringing) yours Sir? (to Trevor who takes his phone out and shakes his head) Louis I think that's you"

Louis : (blinks eyes rapidly) "Oh um.." (digs into jeans pocket to take out phone) "I'm so sorry I'll just.."

Mr. Upton : "it's fine. Go on"

Louis : "I'll take it outside. Excuse me" (walks out not looking at the screen but just pressing to answer) "Hello?"

Niall : (frantic) "Louis! Where are you?"

Louis : (closes door so he's fully outside and gore to lean against a lamp post) "I'm..Im just busy Ni, what is it?"

Niall : "remember I told you about Harry?"

Louis : (swallows) "yeah?"

Niall : "well I'm still here, we're all here but Lou he's not looking too good and he refuses to talk to anyone (hesitates) only if it's..only if it's..you"

Louis : (gasps) "what?"

Niall : "he keeps saying your name Lou and he says he wants to see you"

Louis : "is this a fucking joke?"

Niall : (stern) "Louis I'm serious"

Louis : "why does he want to see me?"

Niall : "why don't you come over and you'll find out"

Louis : "I can't I'm.. I just can't"

Niall : (sighs) "please Louis he needs you"
