Alexandria
I'm pretty sure that Raven is very pissed at me. Yesterday was one of the best of days of my life, and Tanith is awesome. She may be really intense, but sure enough, I did manage to throw Raven across the room in physical training, and disarm her of her short sword in a mere 5 minutes. But I can tell she was planning to kick my butt in front of Valkyrie and Skulduggery. Darn. At least I've got Tanith's good side.
I decided to try a bit of magic by myself. I picked up a book that Valkyrie had lent me yesterday. It was called A Beginners Guide to Elemental Magic. I read the first page, and it explained how Elementals did not control the elements, but merely manipulate them. They were fire, wind, water and earth. I wanted to try the air first, so I imagined the air as chains that linked the world together. I put my phone on the bed and started to pat it up, trying to make the chain wobble and make my phone float.
No success.
I kept on trying until suddenly, my phone was floating in the air. I swept it slowly across the room, and then summoned it back to me. Tada! I did it. I actually legit did it. I was so proud of myself. I tried to lift the chair and it surely did. A tap on the door made my concentration drop, causing the chair to clang onto the floor again. Valkyrie's head popped it.
"Hey Sparrow! You're an early bird? Watcha doing?" Valkyrie didn't look the least tired. She looked like she had been training the entire night with Tanith. She glanced at the open book on my bed and the chair on the floor and raised an eyebrow. "Looks like someone's onto an early start."
"I can only manipulate wind. Flames refuse to spark, and I'm not really a fan of water." I said. I lifted a cup of water from my table with the wind and gently spilt it onto Raven's head. She woke up spluttering.
"Violet Walkers!" she screeched. I laughed and Valkyrie looked like she was trying not to laugh. "Just because you want to beat me in magic doesn't mean that you have to pour water all over my head."
I shrugged my shoulders. "Can't beat a prank, Missy Moonglass." I said. Valkyrie grinned at me.
"Now don't get so cocky, Missy Sparrow. Wait until Raven kicks your butt in magic training. You better lose because if you win, I'll be teased for life by Missy Low."
"Okay them Missy Cain." I smirked, "no guarantees!"
I left the room fully changed and entered Valkyrie and Tanith's private training chambers. Tanith and Valkyrie were wrestling and Skulduggery and Fletcher were in the middle of a friendly argument. Fletcher grinned when I walked in.
"Looks like new-girl survived day one with Tanith!" Fletcher said. Valkyrie was lying on the mat, and Tanith was tying back her hair. "Victory for Tanith!"
Skulduggery walked over and grinned. "Fletcher, did you know what Alexandria Sparrow managed to kick Raven Moonglass's butt yesterday?" A praise from Skulduggery Pleasant? Was that sarcasm? I think it was sarcasm.
Tanith smirked at Valkyrie. "You're out of practice, Val. But you'll never win the bet. The Sparrow is going to beat the Raven."
"The Raven I know is not going down without a fight. Being pissed brings the animal out of the human." Valkyrie replied.
"Sparrow, you better not disgrace me. We're having a contest. Me vs Valkyrie, which just ended. Skulduggery vs Fletcher where Fletcher is going to die, and you vs Raven. The teams are Valkyrie, Skulduggery and Raven vs you, me and Fletcher. It's literally up to you two to make the tie breaker, because Fletcher forfeited." Tanith explained
"Geez, don't tense her up. We're gonna be training you, Valkyrie with Raven and Skulduggery with Sparrow. May the best newbie win!" Fletcher suddenly disappeared again, and soon appeared with a megaphone. He was about to speak into it when Tanith snatched it from his hands.
"Please. Not the megaphone." Valkyrie frowned in disgust. "Last time you got the megaphone you started singing parodies of One Direction." I could see a smile starting to creep up her face.
And then Raven walked in.
It was funny that when every time Raven came in, Skulduggery's face seem to be gripping onto something. Like a memory. Frustrated in this, I asked dumbly, "Skulduggery, why do you look at Raven oddly every time she walks in, like you're trying to grasp on to a memory of something?"
Skulduggery looked at me like I was crazy, and then sighed. "You're right. The reason is because you look nothing like Mevolent. Not even a tiny bit. You don't even act alike, and your personality is nothing like Mevolent or his sister. You act like... you act like her."
Valkyrie looked bewildered. "Whose her?"
"My wife. You remind me of... of Trinity. Dear god, you look like my son." Skulduggery deactivated his facade. His fake face. Ok. That was seriously getting weird.
"What color was your eyes?" Raven asked.
"Amber. My eyes were amber. Like yours." Skulduggery whispered.
"You hair?"
"Brown. But Trinity's hair was the same color as yours. You look exactly like Trinity, minus the blue eyes."
Tanith was literally whooping with joy inside. She looked so excited. Valkyrie looked shocked. Fletcher looked bored, so he disappeared and appeared with a pizza. Valkyrie glared at him. He shrugged.
"Ok. Let's call China. I'm asking her to redraw your facade. We need your original face back." Valkyrie declared. "Fletcher, teleport."
Soon we were in China's chambers. According to Raven, Grand Mage China Sorrows was astoundingly beautiful. I readied myself for who I was about to see.
I was not prepared.
The lady who appeared was enchanting. Her skin was as pale as mine, and her eyes were ice blue. Her hair contrasted a raven black and she looked like a queen from a story in a red satin gown. She smiled, but I suddenly realised how fake she actually looked. It was definitely magic. I shook myself out of her trance, but Raven was gazing at her like she was in love with China. Which was sorta disgusting. LES.
"So, my Prime Detectives are back. What news do you have?" China said.
"Hey China. We need a fix on Skulduggery's facade." Valkyrie said.
"Is it drooping again?"
"No, we want his old face back."
China glanced at Raven. "My goodness. Skulduggery, why does this young girl look exactly like Trinity? She looks like you!"
"Which is the reason why we want Skulduggery's old face back. The one with high cheekbones."
"I'll see what I can do."
In no time, Skulduggery had a new face. Holy gods, they looked so alike.
"What the hell?" Tanith said. "Why do you look like his daughter?"
