Chrysanthemum
At the sight of Nefarian Serpine's scowling face, I wanted to puke. He looked so alike to Sparrow that it looked like they were brother and sister if Alexandria was a bit older. Luckily, Sparrow had put her hood back on.
"Now what do you want?" he asked, scowl still on his face.
"Hello Serpine, we need your help." said Sparrow.
"Who are you? And why are you so short? Are you mortals?" he asked.
"We are not mortals. We are young sorcerers, and our world is in grave danger. Only with your help can we save it."
"Now how could I help? And why would I?"
Alexandria took of her hood and looked straight into Serpine's eyes. "Because, Father, I am your daughter."
Serpine's face paled when his brain registered the phrase. "No... it can't be possible... no..."
"My name is Alexandria Sparrow, daughter of Nefarian Serpine and Jade Walkers. And I am begging you to aid us in our mission."
Tears... tears? fell from Serpine's eyes as he nodded. "What do you need?"
I couldn't help but answer. "Who is Mevolent's shunter?"
"Shunter?" he asked. "What's a shunter?"
"A shunter is a dimension-hopper. Mevolent has a Shunter and he's using him or her to transport spies into our dimension. We've been able to eliminate a few, but they explode in light at every attempt to interrogate them. Mevolent, we assume, is building up an army to storm our world. We need to find his Shunter and kill him, and also hope that he doesn't have another one." Torrent spoke now.
"A bunch of kids, to storm into Mevolent's palace just to assassinate a guy? You guys are barely 12, and ill-trained. Why would you think I would let my daughter enter that cursed palace?"
"Because we volunteered. And do not speak to Sparrow as your daughter. The same year she was born, you had stolen the Scepter of the Ancients, killed Eachen Meritorious and Morwenna Crow, and used Sagacious Tome to act as your spy, and then you killed him too. You then destroyed the Book of Names and was killed by my grandfather by your own weapon." Raven's voice rang out from behind us.
"Raven. What did Skulduggery say about you STAYING AT THE BACK." Jasper hissed. "I may be a trouble-maker, but I know that even though Skulduggery's plan look stupid, they actually work."
Serpine looked at us with great curiosity. "And your grandfather is?"
Sparrow, Torrent and Jasper held Raven back and clamped a hand over her mouth. "Nefarian, Raven's heritage is no question for you to ask." my sapphire eyes questioned his with an icy glare. "You may not want to help us, but you will. It seems like you haven't be threatened like this for a long time, and by a 12 year old girl not really. Poor Harmony, as you tricked her into loving you. Pity, she's a pretty one. And also, please don't plan on betraying us, Nefarian, I can read your mind and face like an open book."
"Wow, a twelve year old Sensitive. Never knew you had enough concentration to be one." he smirked.
"Not just a Sensitive." I grinned back, as I surrounded his neck with shadows. "You will do what we tell you to do, without a question. Lead us into the Palace."
Serpine's face changed as he saw the situation he was in. Surrounded by a bunch of 12 year old's that were threatening his life. I was laughing in my head really badly. But my face betrayed no emotion, and all I did was, using the shadows, to pull him off his seat.
"Fine. But please don't put a pain reactor thing on me. Last time Valkyrie did that and it wasn't nice." he winced.
"I wasn't planning to anyways. Ready, Mr Serpine?"
"Sure Miss... I didn't catch your name."
"Miss Storm. And this is Mr Willows, Mr Ash, Miss Moonglass and Miss Sparrow. Lead the way, Nefarian."
We were soon in Baron Vengeous's house again, in the dungeons. Luckily, I had fully memorized Skulduggery's instructions and we were heading off through the tunnel into Mevolent's palace. In our small hiding space, I made myself invisible (psychically of course) and started to scout. Mevolent was sitting on a throne, while there was this man standing next to him respectfully. Baron Vengeous looked like a zombie, and Lord Vile suddenly swung his head towards me. I leaped out of the shadows way and ran.
I totally forgot that Lord Vile was Skulduggery. Not that the rest of them knew, but of course, I was a Sensitive, so you know what I did. And since Skulduggery didn't have a literal mind, neither did Lord Vile. So mind tricks didn't work on him. Darn. I was still dodging the streams of shadows and Mevolent was giving Lord Vile a strange look. I shot stream of shadows into Mevolent's face and struck another one at the man. The man's face was torn apart, and he seemed to shimmer, before dropping to the floor dead.
Oh my god. I just killed the Shunter. Leaping out of the way once more, I ran as fast as I could towards the tunnel. Serpine had already led the others away and I had to chase after them. The tunnel collapsed after me and by the time I was back in Vengeous's dungeon, we were all panting.
"We have to get back to Creyfon. Now." said Sparrow.
Nodding, we all sprinted towards the outskirts of town. Suddenly, Torrent grabbed my hand and we flew into the skies. Ok. What the hell was going on. He dropped me at the rendezvous point and flew back to the others. He soon arrived with the other 3 just as Creyfon glimmered into the dimension.
Seeing our expressions, he rose an eyebrow and shunted us back to our dimension. Skulduggery turned the moment we arrived. "Whose the shunter?" he asked immediately.
"I killed him... he looked... like... this...." I flashed an image in their head. Wait. Skulduggery still looked confused.
"What?"
"Oh, sorry. I forgot you don't have a mind for me to control."
Valkyrie looked up, still and quiet. "Skulduggery, I know who it is."
"Who is it?"
"Silas Nadir."
