Storm

After the prank, when Jasper finally regained consciousness, we crowded around my room. Since mine was the master bedroom and we still had two empty bedrooms, Lexi and Raven would be staying at our apartment. I don't know if its safe to have 5 underage kids living by themselves, but I'm pretty sure we'll be fine. A Sensitive, an Elemental, an Energy-thrower, a Necromancer and Torrent (because I refuse to call him an Elemental yet, even though he helped with the prank.) were pretty good security forces.

And then I saw Sparrow's twin swords.

They were the matching set for the necklace, and they looked like they were made to suit only her. Every night, she would twirl her swords around and practice in her room, and then do a fitness routine. Every morning I would always wake to the sound of her panting, after her morning run. Raven, however, was a sleepy head, and only woke up after Sparrow yelled something into her ear.

The amulet around her neck was definitely very important for her magic, because without it, she was visibly horrible in magic. Her physical skill was the exact opposite. Raven would challenge Sparrow every day to see who would win the physical no-magic fight. Sparrow had won every one, either sword play or wrestling or even target practice. But in the magical fights, without her amulet, she would lose.

But still a voice would nudge me and whisper Mevolent is coming. Mevolent is coming. I knew that Mevolent was still alive in the other dimension, but no one dared to go to report what was happening. We knew that he had found a shunter and was getting ready to destroy this dimension, and even sent spies to our dimension, but we have done nothing.

Raven and Sparrow had gone out with Tanith and Valkyrie for something related to intense training so it was just the three of us again. Torrent silently tapped me on the shoulder and told me to come into his room. I followed him without a sound, and he soon shut the door behind us. His room was destroyed. Like, even more than usual.

The wallpaper was ripped up, and the bed was actually destroyed for once.  His desk was in pieces and his books, once cherished, were now taken apart, page by page. His hands were shaking, and so were his knees. He suddenly crumpled, and I caught him as he fell. He was stuttering and tears were streaming down his face.

"Chrys, please." he whispered. "Chrys, remove this curse on me. Make my powers less noticeable. Dampen them. Just, just make sure that I'll never hurt someone I care fore. Please, please, please! I can't control it now! My magic is just swirling around, and the longer I keep it in, the stronger and angrier the storm becomes. Please Chrys. Do it please! Do it for me, for Jasper, for Tanith, for Lexi and Raven! I'm a threat to you all!"

Tears were starting to well up in my eyes as well. "Torrent..." I said. "You are not cursed, you are just powerful. You're my friend, Torrent, my best friend, and friends stick together. I have no way to  control someone's magic, more or less dampen it. That's something only Grand Mage Sorrows can do, but she won't do things for free, even if it's for her prime detectives. I'm not as powerful as you, so only someone your strength can chain you. But no one needs to restrain their power. All you need to do is learn how to control yourself. And I think that someone can help you, somewhere in this world, but I don't know who it is. I have no idea what you I can do for you, but I know that I can be the friend that helps you along the way."

Torrent finally stood up, still shaking, and started to edge towards the door. "Could I sleep in your room? So I won't be alone at night? I know it's sort of weird, a boy and a girl in one room, but I think that'll be the only way to stop me from accidentally destroying this place." He continued to edge towards the door into the my room. He plopped on to my bed and asked, "Can you call Fletcher Renn and ask him to teleport a bed?"

Sighing I called Fletcher, and he soon appeared with a bed and placed it in my room. I then asked a favor. "Fletcher, can you teleport me to Skulduggery Pleasant?"

He nodded and in a second we were in the training room where Tanith and Valkyrie were drilling Raven and Sparrow. Skulduggery and Ghastly (who I had proven to be the real Bespoke) were chatting, watching the girls fight. "Skulduggery!" I shouted, over the panting, "We need to send someone over to Mevolent's dimension to scout!"

"I know!" he shouted back. "But Creyfon Signate is refusing to help!"

"Then make him help!" I yelled.

"How am I supposed to do that?!"

"You're Skuludggery Pleasant! That's the only reason I need! Go get him!"

"No on will volunteer to go into that hell!"

"I have 5 volunteeers!"

"What?!"

By now Tanith and Valkyrie had overheard the conversation and had issued a break. Sparrow and Raven came over, faces red with exhaustion.

"I volunteer." Raven and Sparrows said in unison.

I grinned. "That's three. And I know Jasper and Torrent will be glad to help."

Skulduggery glared at us. "You guys are twelve year olds! You're not gonna survive."

"Says the person whose partner helped kill Nefarian Serpine when she was twelve."

"She had Ancient blood!"

"At least we are trained!"

"She was!"

"No I wasn't." said Valkyrie coolly. "The only training I had was how to swim. I didn't even have magic. Skulduggery, let them go. Younger people are less suspicious, but they'll need clothes that match that place."

"But then Alexa... Serpine is there." Skuduggery said.

"Fletcher? Can you go get Torrent and Jasper?" Fletcher disappeared and soon appeared with my friends.

"I don't like being a taxi." he grumbled.

"You're a Teleporter. That's your job." Tanith laughed. Ghastly meanwhile, was already on the move to the door. "

"Fletcher? Tailor shop?" he said. Muttering under his breath, Fletcher jogged towards Ghastly and disappeared. He then appeared again, grabbed Valkyrie and Tanith, who grabbed Lexi and Raven. On his third round back, Torrent and Jasper had already grabbed my hand and Skulduggery put his hand on Fletcher's arm reluctantly. We then appeared back in Ghastly's shop, where Raven and Lexi had already put on their clothes for the separate dimension.

Lexi's outfit was deep blue, while Raven's was mauve. Mine was already made, my favorite olive green. Torrent's was a brown, while Jasper's nearly done one was a beige-yellow. Taking it, I went to prepare for the mission of my life.
