Alexandria
Torrent was really nice, actually, and so was Chrysanthemum. Jasper reminded me a bit of Raven, because of they're humongous egos. Chrysanthemum was really pretty, with her blue sapphire eyes. Torrent Ash, although I have to say that isn't such a nice name when the two are put together, was really shy, but he was apparently super powerful, although he would be drained very quickly.
Raven sat on the edge of Jasper's bed, chatting in a low voice with him, and Jasper was creating a beam of energy in between his hand. Ash was trying to tidy up his room after his hurricane, and I was just helping. His walls, once a beautiful olive green, was now a dull shade of brown. His rug was broken into pieces, and even though I have already neatened up his books, the room was still a complete mess.
Chrysanthemum soon walked in, and when she saw me and Ash tidying up his room, her face fell. Torrent was still trying to control his winds, but all he could manage were violent bursts of wind that weren't controlled properly. A burst of wind struck her, but a wave of shadows came up to block it. "Hey Lexi. Dear god, Torrent, please keep your winds under control! Where's Jasper? In his room with Raven? I thought so."
I gave her a bewildered look.
"Sorry if it looks like I'm off my rocker. I can see what you think in my head remember? I'm a Sensitive."
Torrent sighed. "Chrys, can't you create a sigil to help me control my magic? Ever since dad died..."
"Wait." I interrupted. "Your dad died?"
Storm looked sullen. "Yes, all our parents are dead. We were left orphans at the age of 6, when Darquesse killed so many in the War, and some were killed in the War of the Sanctuaries. My father was a sorcerer called Maky, who was possessed and then killed by a remnant and Darquesse. My mother killed herself in grief. Torrent's mother and father were killed by Warlocks and Jasper's were killed by Darquesse in the explosion. I met Jasper on my second year as a beggar, when I was 8, and Torrent when I was 10. Torrent had met Tanith when his rage was unleashed in a shopping mall. Tanith felt sorry for us so she gave us this apartment."
Torrent nodded. "I was there when my parents died. Burnt to death in captive by the Warlocks and had to be shot in the head to ease their pain. I was so angry that day, even has a 6 year old kid, that I didn't speak for two years. When I was eight, I started to have my own magic, but my mind was still so full of rage that I could only summon hurricanes."
I was shocked. I never thought that these kids my age would have endured so much pain. "I never knew my father. My mother told me that he was an enchanting Irish man with emerald eyes. It was only a few days ago that I learnt it was Nefarian Serpine himself that seduced my mother."
Storm looked at me and suddenly I heard her voice in my head. Come with me, Alexandria, I have something to show you. Without hesitating, I walked towards her room, and she followed closely, closing the door behind us. Without a word, she dug into her closet and took out a small box. It was golden, lined with the same material as her bracelet.
A shadow key was created and she unlocked the box with it. Inside it was a beautiful necklace, with emeralds and sapphires creating a sparrow with a serpent around it. A breath escaped me as she took it out. She smiled at my reaction and grinned. "I found this after I got this apartment. I'm a collector, despite my young age, and although my collection isn't as big as China, I do have quite a lot of things. I'd like to give this to you, because it reminds me of you. A Sparrow the child of the Serpent. It's also a powerful amulet, as it can enhance your power when you wear it, but only if it accepts you. Once, when I was training my Sensitive magic, I saw a vision of a dark haired girl with sparkling emerald eyes hold-back a great shadow like monster. I don't know who this monster, or what this monster is, but I remember clearly that the amulet was included in the vision. And that once I saw you, I knew that the girl was you."
"Are you so sure it was me? And wow, it's beautiful." I said.
"It is quite pretty, isn't it? Put it on, girl. I think a hot chick like you would like it."
I blushed. "I'm not hot. I'm not even pretty! The pretty one is Raven."
"Or so you think?" she smiled. "Remember I can read your face very clearly like an open book. Not that I'm telling you to shut your face, just that you should learn to hide your emotions. Be emo. Your facial expressions can betray yourself, and trust me, it'll be a very good skill for acting innocent when you prank someone. Oh, and prank Jasper will you? if you have the time. He's been very irritating this month and Torrent's been trying to find a way to prank him. I agree. I am a 12 year old, remember, and I still have the childish bit of me."
"I've got the perfect one." I said, "do you want to hear it?"
