I frowned. "Whose Silas Nadir?" I asked.

Skulduggery looked at me. "He's a serial killer. When we visited him in jail, he performed an Echo Shunt on Valkyrie, meaning that she would dimension hop once in a while, which lead to us discovering Mevolent's dimension. He's been on the run ever since. What happened?"

Storm started to recount what happened. "We found Serpine in a tavern with a secret entrance, so he helped us enter the palace using Vengeous's dungeon. Then, I psychically hid myself, forgetting that a certain Necromancer was there and he started attacking me. Luckily Mevolent still couldn't see me so I shot a stream of shadows across his neck and decapitated the Shunter. But I'm pretty sure that Mevolent hasn't died yet. It was only a shallow cut since I was too busy dodging and running away from that certain Necromancer. And then we ran and found out that..."

Torrent suddenly put a hand on Storm's shoulder. "Please Chrys, please don't tell them." Torrent's voice was hoarse and quiet. "I'd prefer it unknown."

Raven stood up abruptly. "I'm going back to training." I stood up with her, walking towards the door.

"I'll be going back to Chrysanthemum's place. Fletcher?" Fletcher, still grumbling as usual, started to herd us together.

Jasper and Torrent put up a hand. "Could we explore the Sanctuary?" and then they both burst into fits.

So this was the real Torrent underneath the sorrow.

Fletcher teleported me back to the house, and I was alone.

Chrys's voice rang in my head. If only one of us had super speed as an Adept power. I had always wanted superspeed. It seemed unreachable, even though I ran fast.

Until I was introduced to the world of magic.

I realized that I could slow down time if I wanted to. As an Adept.

Elemental never felt right. My father was a Necromancer, so it only seemed right that I have an Adept power. And the sparrow was fleet and fast. I could be the Sparrow. Maybe dreams could be reality.

I focused my mind on the world slowing down. To tell if it was working, I put a nyan cat video up on my laptop. Nothing like a little nya nya nya to tell if you are doing it correct. As I focused on myself moving very quickly until I realized that the world seemed to blur. The nyan cat video was moving super-speed. Releasing myself from the concentration, the world went back to normal.

The next time, I tried to focus on the world moving slowly instead of me moving quickly. Sure enough, the nyan cat started to slow down. Only by a bit, but as I kept on practicing, it got slower and slower, until it looked like it stopped. I then took out my swords and started to practice using the super speed and swordplay in one go. It took out lots of my energy but I think it was worth it.

By the time Raven had opened the door, I had managed to connect my two new skills into one fluid motion.

"Lexi! Sparrow! Where the hell are you? Sparrow!" she called as she walked in.

"I'm here!" I yelled back.

"Where?"

"In my room genius! Einstein..."

Raven walked in to my room to see me swinging my twin swords against her neck. She screamed.

I laughed. "AHAHAHAHA you thought I was going to kill you?"

She glared at me.

I smirked back.

"Are you done dawdling, kids?" Fletcher stood outside my room. "Skulduggery wants you to come over for reasons unknown."
