"Come on, Janette!" Jo whined, "Hurry up! I've been waiting for like, a decade now!" Sitting behind the wheel of her shiny new Seat Ibiza, Jo was getting impatient as Janette touched up her lipstick in the hallway mirror. "Coming Jo!" She hollered through the door, ajar as though it were waiting for someone to shut it. "Bučko, I'm off with Jo now to test out her new car . See you later!" She yelled upstairs to Karen and Kevin's spare room, where Aljaž was busily sorting his suitcase contents. They had been staying with their best friends for the weekend. "I love you bučka! Be home soon!" He replied, the sound slightly muffled due to the layers of carpeting underfoot.
"I love you too!" She answered, before pulling the door shut behind her as she left. Climbing into the car, she received an earful from Jo, mostly about how she had kept her waiting for too long and some things about how her and Aljaž were 'too lovey-dovey.' Janette simply looked out of the window at the world going past her, and smiled.Jo had gotten her first car and had decided to drag Janette with her to test it out. They wandered through the empty streets of London early Sunday morning, no destination in particular. Janette made Jo stop at the Camden Market to buy bananas, she couldn't resist - they looked so perfect.
Of course, Janette being Janette thought of Aljaž too, buying him some homemade, freshly squeezed pineapple juice from a nearby smoothie stall. Taking a few sneaky sips herself, she re-entered the car with Jo. Jo had put on her 'Musicals Favourites' CD, and was doing some sort of crazy head-banging, shaking her arms and attempting to move her legs while she was singing along. She hadn't even noticed Janette enter the car, so had carried on doing so. Janette, scoffing and trying to hold in her laughter, whipped out her phone and started filming. Halfway through the chorus of 'Defying Gravity' that Jo noticed Janette eagerly capturing the whole proceedings on camera and sending them to Karen. "JANETTE!" Jo yelled, pretending to be angry. "I HATE YOU SO MUCH. YOU AREN'T MY SCORPIO SISTER ANYMORE!" She folded her arms and shut her eyes tightly, in a mock child-like tantrum, but burst out laughing a little less than twenty seconds later. Janette couldn't help but join in. Jo began to drive once more, both belting the final chorus of 'Defying Gravity'
as they headed down the road.Three songs later, one of their favourites, 'You Can't Stop The Beat' came on. Jo turned the volume knob and began yelling the lyrics along with the recording. Janette sang along too, wary that it was maybe slightly too loud. She reached forward to try and turn it down slightly, "Jo, you need to concentrate on the road." She explained, while fiddling with the buttons. Jo slapped her hand away from the dashboard, shouting over the music "Leave it! It's such a good song!" When she had hid Janette's hand, the knob had moved more, and turned the volume up to its maximum level.
Jo sped up, singing all the while. She was having the time of her life.Janette covered her ears, trying to shout to Jo to slow down, but her anxious yells mingled with the music, and Jo was oblivious to what she was saying. So lost in the music, Jo didn't realise that she was approaching a corner at almost double the speed that was the limit for the area. She also didn't see the 'give way' sign, illuminated on the side of the road even in the daylight. "JO, PLEASE SLOW DOWN!" Janette screamed.
The car carried on going. Going and going, past the stop sign, into the path of a black Audi on the passenger side.
