Janette had returned home and life was slowly but surely clicking back into place. Aljaz ran in front and held open the door for Janette, like he had done so many times before. Except this time, slowly but surely, after months of different walking aids, Janette walked into apartment. "Yes! Bucko, yes!" Aljaz exclaimed, scooping Janette up from the floor and swinging her around. They both collapsed in a heap of giggles on the sofa.

When she had was still been in the chair, Aljaz would help her in and out of it and she would push herself along. He'd lift her onto the tall barstools that she so loved so she could get her coffee with a view, he would help her get onto the sofa when she wanted to play his video games, and he would sit and laugh along with her.

She had been attending Physiotherapy in order to regain power in her legs which has been drastically reduced in the accident. At the beginning, she could only stand up using an aid and couldn't stay there for very long either. However, after weeks and weeks of physio, changing from wheelchair to crutches to walking unaided, it had been a long journey yet they had made it.

*Flashback*

"Come on baby, this is so exciting!" Janette shouted, as Aljaz was finishing up his breakfast. Janette was so full of energy that Aljaz worried for a moment that she would just leap out of the chair. "Coming, coming." He groaned, in fake anger, but laughed when he saw Janette's little face lit up, sitting on the chair.
Aljaz grabbed a coat and wheeled her out of the flat, heading to the physiotherapist for the final time with her chair.

*End Of Flashback*

Janette had managed to regain the same amount of strength in her legs as she had had before, and Aljaz flicked on the CD Player in the corner of their apartment that they used to choreograph or just whenever they felt like dancing. The song filled the room, bouncing off every wall. It was their song, 'You and I.' Janette put her arms on Aljaz's shoulders and clasped his neck. He put his arms around her waist and they danced. For the first time in nearly a year, Janette was dancing. She finally felt complete - here, at home, with Aljaz, dancing to their song. It was perfect.

Aljaz's mind was whirring. The song had reminded him of the proposal that he had planned. Now was the time, he had decided. If he left it any later, he was sure he would drive himself crazy.

*A Week Later*

"Kev, Kev. Is Karen with Janette? Ask her if Janette is nearly ready!" Aljaz shouted down the phone, hands clammy with nerves. He paced up and down the apartment, ring box between his fingers in his pocket. He hung up the phone and placed it down on the kitchen surface, in an attempt to calm himself down.

Less than a minute later, the phone screen lit up and a shrill message notification broke the silence. He walked over to the phone and read the screen. It read:

Janette is on her way! Good Luck Mate :) Karen and Kev

Aljaz picked it up and shoved it into his other pocket. Pulling on his coat he thought to himself, it had been a long haul, they had had so many ups and downs, he had nearly lost Janette. But they had made it here. This was it.

He could hear the key fumbling in the lock and sprinted to the door, opening it to the sight of his beautiful fiancee-to-be. "Hey baby! Did you have a good pamper session with Karen?" Aljaz asked, trying his hardest to hide the nerves in his voice. "Yes thank you bucko," Janette answered, kissing him on the lips. "I wish you could've come too though." She added. "I would have loved to, but I had a lot to sort out in the apartment, and make some calls to Miami too." Aljaz replied. "Well, we 're both here now, so let's go." He clasped Janette's hand and shut the apartment behind them. Little had she know that the 'calls to Miami' were really confirming to Janette's parents that he was proposing, and the 'Dance Studio Event' he had told her they were attending was far from that, and would change her life forever.
