Vic's POV"Hello?" I answered my phone
"Vic?"
"Yes. May I asked who this is?" I asked
"Sydney. Amber's friend" I jolted awake when I heard the name Amber. I haven't heard from her in years. She was my childhood best friend. We were next door neighbours and went to middle and high school together. She was ptv's first fan and always supported us. I looked at the time on my phone. 11am and I was still in my bunk.
"What happened? God is she okay?" I asked
"Um no. Well I guess you can say she uh... Happy?" She sounded like she was going to cry. Where was this conversation going?
"Sydney what happened?"
"There isn't an easy way to tell you this Vic. But um. Amber committed suicide last night" those words hit me like a bunch of knives
"She what?" I couldn't wrap my head around this situation. Yes Amber didn't have the best parents or childhood for that matter. She would always run away and hide in our treehouse in her backyard to see if her parents would look for her. At 13 she eventually started self harming and tried to end her life a few times. I've always tried my best to help her get through it but it was never enough. In fact her dad hated me for trying to help her. They moved closer to the high school we went to and started talking again the first day of tenth grade.
"We share an apartment here in San Diego and I was out for the night to my boyfriends house because she said she was going to watch movies but then I walked in this morning at around 9 and she was laying in the washroom, pills everywhere. The first thing I did was call 9-1-1 and now I'm at home waiting for them to call me" she explained crying. Oh my god. Don't cry Vic. Don't cry Vic. Stay strong. Don't fucking cry.
"O-oh" I chocked out. Tears started falling down my checks thinking about her.
"I'm sorry for calling you at this time considering you're on tour and all but I thought you should know since she always spoke about you and how you were always there for her" she said. I nodded even though she couldn't see it. I remember the last time I spoke to her which was after the band's first tour. I explained to her that it was getting busy and that if I don't message her, I'll make it up to her by having a Vic and Amber day like back in high school. Does Tay know?
"Have you contacted Taylor?" Amber and Tay were pretty close. When me and her started dating, us three plus my little brother would always hang out and the two became close friends.
"Uh no. She isn't answering my calls" she said.
"Oh. I'll uh. I'll call her later tonight"
"Okay. Take care Vic. I'll give you information once I find out more"
"Alright. Thank you for letting me know Sydney" and she ended the call. I through my phone into the curtain blocking me from the bunk hall and groaned frustratedly."Vic?" Tony's voice asked. The three of them went out to get food but I wanted to stay in because I was feeling a bit under the weather
"In my bunk" soon his head peeked in and I moved over and he sat down.
"What's wrong?"
"One of my best friends... Is-is gone tone. She just ended her life" I said starting to tear up again. He opened his arms and I leaned into him.
"Tell me what happened" he said soothingly rubbing my arm.
"Her roommate c-called me th-this morning s-saying she killed he-herself"
"Vic please calm down" I guess he noticed my shortness of breath
"I-i didn't get to say goodbye" I whispered
"When you find out the funeral details, we'll cancel a few shows and head back so we could attend. Or just you. It doesn't matter" he said. I nodded and got up
"Hand me my notebook" I said. He reached under the bunk and gave me my notebook and pen. I turned on the light in the bunk and flipped pages.
"I'll let you be for now" he got up and left.Let's see. Think Vic. Think about Amber. I started thinking about her and how I always found her high up in the oak tree in her backyard. She always loved sitting a few branches higher then her tree house. I got it!
'She sets up high'
No. I crossed out sets and replaced it with sits.
Whenever we hung out, it was always sunny and she had a bad habit of playing with wood sticks.'Surrounded by the sun, one million branches and she loves everyone
Mom and dad, did you care about me? I hide up in this tree I'm going crazy' no I don't like that.
'Mom and dad, did you search for me? I've been up here so long I'm going crazy' That sounds better. I worked on the song for a few hours. I was determined to finish it by tonight because I want to show the guys."Vic?" I heard my little brother's voice.
"In my bunk" soon his head popped in and he shyly smiled before moving my acoustic and sitting down.
"What are you doing?" He asked
"Working on a new song. I decided to write music instead of...you know" I trailed off. I haven't done it in years but deaths seem to trigger me.
"You better not have. What are you working on?"
"Pass it" I said gesturing to my guitar in his lap. He handed it to me and I adjusted the cords before started the song
"It's not finished yet but this is what I have so far" he nodded and I cleared my throat before starting'She sits up high surrounded by the sun
One million branches and she loves every one
"Mom and dad, did you search for me?
I've been up here so long I'm going crazy"
And as the sun went down we ended up on the ground
I heard the train shake the windows
You screamed over the sound
And as we own this night
I put your body to the test with mine
This love was out of control
3-2-1 where did it go?
Now don't be crazy
Yes now of course you can stay here.
You know we're going on ten years
Big deal, I guess you're official
I only said it 'cause I know what it's like to feel
Burned out and down,
We've all been there sometimes
But tonight I'll make you feel beautiful once again
And as the sun went down we ended up on the ground
I heard the train shake the windows
You screamed over the sound
And as we own this night
I put your body to the test with mine
This love was out of control
3-2-1 where did it go?' I stopped"Why'd you stop? I was enjoying that" he said
"That's all I've got so far"
"Dam dude. It sounds sick. It's gonna be one of our slower songs right?"
"Not like stay away or kissing in cars kinda slow but something like yeah boy and doll face" he nodded
"We should make you some food. The show starts at 8" I turned on my phone and saw it was 4pm. We got out of my bunk and I went to go make myself a coffee and grabbed a doughnut from the box the boys brought in.
"I like the song" Tony complimented
"Thanks turtle"
"I second that. What's it called? Or gonna be called?" Jaime asked. I thought about it for a minute. Since Amber was 13, she's tried committing suicide every November but I always told her to hold on till May because things get better.
"Hold on till May" I said
"Hm" they said nodding and smiling
"I like it" hime said.
"Thanks" I sat down and ate my doughnut before going to change into black skinny jeans, black and white vans and a tank top because the venue was going to be hot. I straightened my hair and put my beanie on before heading out of the RV to meet up with the guys inside."Show time boys!" Our tour manager Michelle called into our dressing room. We all ran out and headed back stage. The kids were already chanting Pierce the veil which made my blood pump and I started jumping around excitedly.
Soon my little brother ran out and got the kids going followed by Jaime then Tony and last was me.
"How you feeling San Antonio!" I yelled. The kids screamed
"Alright we're called Pierce the veil a bunch of Mexicans from San Diego and tonight we're gonna have the time of our lives do you hear me!" They screamed again. Throughout the entire set, the only person coming to my mind was Amber and how I could've have helped her more.Depressing chapter but hey, hold on till May is becoming a song right?
Why do you think Taylor isn't answering her phone?
I know this isn't a very long chapter and I'm sorry. I've been in and out of the hospital this past week and I haven't rlly been able to update but I will be soon guys :)
