Day 19: ALARM CLOCK (reasons why I don't have one) by Rabena

I’ll turn it off when it cock-a-doodle

dos at me in 4 in the morning

hit snooze or cancel the whole thing

because eventually I’ll have to go

through the process again

and anyway I’d be awake enough to want to

not be. I’d be so awake I’d know I’m sleepy.

I’d snooze it off because 

it never knew I stayed up late last night

just to finish a ton of homework

This does not know the gravity

and pain of the whole lack of sleep

and still it mercilessly cries in the middle

of the morning

buzzing if you forget you silenced it

blinks in the dark if you turned off the lights

argh!

so I didn’t hit snooze and just called the alarm off
