Chapter 20

Niall's point of view

“This'll have to be our last date in a while,” Emily told Niall. They were out for dinner together again, at a nice restaurant. “Because your US tour finishes next week and you guys are going back to England for a break, right?”

“Er, yeah... I think,” Niall told her. Sounds like she knows more about our schedule than I do. Niall tended to just do whatever and let Paul, Liam or James tell him what he needed to do at any given time.

“I'll miss you,” Emily added. “I've really enjoyed hanging out with you as a friend.”

The two of them had walked around town yesterday, and looked at guitars in various music shops. And got photographed together by the paparazzi of course. Then they had gone to the venue where Emily's band was going to perform and Niall had had a jam with her on her band's equipment.

“Yeah, I'll miss you too,” Niall told her sadly. But then he blinked and perked up. Wait a minute! I can get James or Beth to teleport me back here to see her!

Hmm... wait... she doesn't know about powers. Bad idea, Nialler.

Niall realised he was absently chewing his lip, and stopped.

Who'd have thought I would actually miss my 'girlfriend'? It was going to be easy for Niall to pretend in interviews that he was missing Emily.

“Do you want to see the desert menu?” the waiter asked.

Emily nodded enthusiastically. That's my girl, thought Niall with a grin. Now if I were straight and she were straight, then this might really work!

When Niall got back to the hotel from his date, he found a very excited James.

“We've found them Nialler!” the boy told him enthusiastically.

Huh?

“Found who?” Niall asked.

“We've found the last prison facility in North America!” James told him. Oh! Wow! Cool! “There was enough information in the paperwork that we recovered from that last building for the spy guys to trace the money fully though the bank accounts.” James waved his hands, “Anyway point is, we've got them! The last building! Well, last one on this continent anyway! It's in Canada!”

Niall nodded.

“So are we going now?” Niall asked. He gestured to the suit he had worn to the date. “I should go change out of this.”

James shook his head. “The military are getting things planned tonight, and clearing it with the Canadian government. We'll do it tomorrow.”

James eyed Niall up and down, and winked suggestively. “But I agree you should lose the suit. Why don't I help you with that?”

Louis' point of view

Louis put his legs up on the chair in front of him, and yawned, as Paul Higgins continued his rant. “No, Paul,” Louis stated firmly, cutting into Paul's monologue. “I'm doing this. You're not talking me out of this so why even bother trying?”

Louis waved to Alistair Wilson as the man came over to join the boys. Yes! A distraction to save us from hearing yet another round of Paul's arguments as to why we shouldn't be participating in the mission today. “It looks like the layout of today's facility is the same as the last one,” Alistair informed them. “It'll be great to have all the same teams again because everyone has experience working together in those teams doing this exact task.” Alistair looked at his watch. “I hope the other guys with powers are going to show up,” he added. “Otherwise we'll be short.” Alistair looked up as the door opened. “Well here's the military guys, right on time.”
