Chapter 33

Harry's point of view

Harry awoke some hours later, feeling fully rested. I wonder what the time is? Harry began to reach for his cellphone that was in the pockets of his trousers that were beside the bunk bed. Wait-a-minute, that'll just tell me the time in Australia. I'm in Colombia now, so it won't help knowing the time here. I'll have to find a clock.

Harry decided it was time to get out of bed anyway, and got up and put his clothes on and then looked around the room. Harry could barely make out the others in the room, but he could tell that Liam and Louis' beds were now empty. Zayn was still asleep, as was Niall.

Oh wait! Harry thought suddenly. My cellphone will have switched to a network here in Colombia and so will have updated with the correct local time... He pulled it out and read the time. 7:48pm. In the light of his cellphone he noticed that Niall's bed had two heads sticking out of the blankets. Liam head was visible beside Niall's. Both boys were still asleep. They weren't asleep earlier though... Harry was pretty sure he could remember waking up in the night briefly and hearing... noises... The two of them had been pretty quiet about it though, and Harry had simply rolled over and gone back to sleep.

Harry quietly left the bunkroom and went in search of the toilets. After using the facilities, he focused on where he could sense Louis' power and followed it to a small room in the back of the kitchens. Louis was just finishing what had apparently been a fairly large meal. Dinner for breakfast I guess, Harry thought. He got himself some food and sat down beside Louis.

After the dinner / breakfast, Harry decided to make a few phone calls. I wonder what time it is in Australia and England at the moment? Harry couldn't work it out, but decided to just call the people anyway. They're all used to getting calls from me at random times anyway.

Harry called Paul first. “Hey Paul! … Yeah, I'm just checking in. … Yeah, we're still here. We haven't started yet actually. … Yeah. … We start in about five hours I think. … Sure. ... Yeah, we'll be back with plenty of time to spare before the next concert. No trouble. ... Don't worry about us. We'll be careful. The plan's a really good one. Should be no trouble. … Okay. … Yep … Bye!”

When Harry rang off, he noticed that Louis was now on the phone to Eleanor. Might as well give Kendall a call, Harry thought with a smile. He rang his girlfriend and chatted for a while about everything and nothing. He let her think that he was currently in Australia. She doesn't know about powers, he reminded himself. Maybe I should tell her. Their relationship was getting fairly serious. He liked Kendall a lot. But today's not the right day to tell her.

Harry rang his mum next. His mum answered the phone and sounded groggy. I guess it must be the middle of the night there. Opps. Harry apologised, but his mum told him not to and insisted that she loved hearing from him and that it didn't matter what time of the night it was. Unlike Kendall, Harry told his mum exactly where he was and why and what they planned to do. His mum was extremely supportive, wishing him and the boys good luck and encouraging him to do his part. Harry supposed that there were some parents out there that would just make themselves sick with worry if their son told them he'd be going into battle in five hours time. But my mum's not like that. She would always encourage and inspire Harry rather than being a worry-wart. “Bye mom! Love you!” he told her finally, and rang off.

While he'd been talking to his mum, Zayn, Liam and Niall had turned up and were now half way through their meals. Or 4/5ths of the way through in Niall's case. Sometimes I think he inhales food rather than chews it.
