Chapter Twenty-One

A/N: Ermagerd did anyone notice the grammar mistake on the cover in the last chapter? So humiliating! I'm sorry :/ and especially I can't change the image either because I flattened the image together which results in nothing that can be taken out-only added in. *Sighs a depressed sigh*. Enjoy the chapter.

KAI

Kai waited until Cinder was safely behind the closed doors of the palace before he followed the guards into the 'Interrogation room'. In reality, he had only said that because he wanted to intimidate the woman-they were merely going to a simple room that had surveillance cameras and netscreens and guards.

"Your Majesty?"

Kai turned around, facing an official with a pressed suit and a stony face.

"The female reporter is safely secured in the room. We have stationed four guards within the room to maintain security. And another two are outside the room. If you need anything else, just call outside." he bowed, fisting a hand to his chest before sidestepping.

Kai nodded, and turned the doorknob, immediately sensing the high-powered, invisible surveillance cameras whirl and zone in on him, reading his files and records. The woman from the interview was sitting stiffly on a steel chair, her hands slack by her sides.

She glanced at Kai and a scowl played on her lips, fueling Kai's fury. He paced towards the woman and took the opposing chair, fixing her with a ice-cold glare. This woman had publicly challenged Cinder-not to mention Luna itself by boldly stating against the Lunar Queen.

"What is your name?" Kai asked, keeping his voice cool.

The woman pressed her lips together, clearly refusing to answer.

Kai tapped his fingernails on the table surface, clenching his jaw tight. "I'm going to need you to answer," he leaned forward. "or you'll be facing some serious consequences for refusing to cooperate with royalty. Not to mention your public statement against Queen Selene."

"Oh please," the woman scoffed. "the whole world knows of your 'relationship' with Queen Selene," she said, meeting Kai's gaze with a teasing, mocking glint in her eye. Kai's fingers curled into fists, and he set his jaw, trying to suppress the boiling hot rage curdling up his chest.

That's two disrespectful implications to royalty, he noted in his mind. This woman was seriously asking for it.

She must have noticed the dangerous glint in Kai's fiery gaze because she sagged in her chair and curled her lip. "My name's Mari." she muttered under her breath. 

"Okay, then, Mari. Care to tell me why you publicly challenged Queen Selene? Do you not realize that Earth is trying to keep alliance and peace with Luna? Do you realize that what you would have done if Queen Selene was not on a friendly basis with me?" Kai sank back, calming his breath down as his emotions began to spike sharply. 

Mari narrowed her eyes, crossing her arms over her chest defiantly. "I was only speaking the truth."

"And where did you hear this truth from?" Kai demanded. No one insulted Cinder like this. No one.

"Rumors are speculating," Mari said, her tone guarded and adamant.

Kai frowned, running a hand through his tousled black hair. "What rumors, exactly?"
