It was the end of a long week at work. I was just signing out when I was asked "Any plans for the weekend?" "No, just going to chill and enjoy some time off" I replied.
This was a lie, well maybe not a lie, maybe what I had wished I was doing? All I wanted to do tonight was have a long bath and watch trashy TV but those plans would have to wait, tonight I would be 'wing woman' to my best friend, Eleanor.

She had been internet dating for a while now with not much success but tonight she had a first date with a guy who she thought could be 'the one'. I was happy for her, but after a bad experience on one of her previous dates we had agreed that I would go with her until we were sure that the guy she was meeting wasn't some kind of weirdo. I got in the car to drive home and decided to call Eleanor, she picked up really quickly.

"Hey"

"Hey El, what's the craic for tonight?"

"Well we are meeting in town at Mal Maison at 7:30, having dinner and then just take it from there"

"Ok, I'll pick you up at 7:00 then, don't be late"

"You're the best Kay, see you then"

We ended the call, Eleanor seemed really excited about tonight so I guessed it would be worth spending my night alone at a bar and at least this guy was taking her somewhere nice, I've had to spend some nights in some really dodgy bars in the past during my 'wing woman' duties.

I arrived home and went straight to the shower, letting the warm water flow over me as I washed away the stress of work.  I stepped out of the shower and wrapped my body in a fluffy towel and wandered over to my wardrobe to choose an outfit for tonight.
I eventually settled on a black dress and heels, nothing too overdressed but I wanted to feel comfortable in the classy environment I was headed to. After curling my hair and applying my make up it was already 6:45, guess I won't be eating before I leave then? I'll have to grab something on my way back.  I jumped back into the car and headed over to pick Eleanor up.

As she opened the door to her flat I could see that she wasn't quite ready.
"Come on El, we're going to be late" I said trying to hurry her along.

"Perfection takes patience Kay, I'll be 2 minutes" she told me calmly while applying a final coat of lipstick to her already made up face.

"You look really hot" I told her "if this guy, what's he called? doesn't go for you he must be blind"

"George, come on, let's go".

Well I guess the guy's name is George, we left her flat and drove into town.  Parking was a nightmare so I had to drop Eleanor off so that she wouldn't be late and then find a parking space.

"Call me if you need me, I won't be far" I yelled as she got out of the car.

"I'll be fine, see you soon" she replied as she closed the door.

I found a space in the hotel car park and then went into the bar. I saw Eleanor sat in a booth talking so I guess George is here, without distracting her I went and sat on a chair at the bar and ordered a sparkling water.

The barman was really friendly and chatted for a short time while pouring my drink but then went to serve another customer. I took a sip from my drink and looked around the bar, very coupley, was my conclusion.

I saw out of the corner of my eye Eleanor standing up and taking her drink, she followed a waiter over to the dining area where she and George were shown to their table.
This was the first time I had seen George and he looked nice. He was dressed quite casually in black jeans and a shirt. He had a tanned complexion and looked very well groomed. 'You've done well there El' I thought to myself and it seemed like their conversation was flowing so I felt the date was going well enough and they didn't need me watching. Taking my phone out of my bag, I started to check Twitter, this would pass some time.
