Chapter 2

Shock - a sure fire way to sober up in an instant.

How could I not have known and why the hell did I not ask his name. 

Well no wonder I recognised him. 

Oh shite, I kissed him. 

He must think I'm a total weirdo. 

The realisation must have hit my face as Eleanor said "Don't tell me you didn't know who he was?"

"I recognised him but ..... Oh shit" I trailed off.

"Kay, I need to go, George will think I've done a runner.  Look forget I mentioned it, just enjoy the rest of your night and call me tomorrow."

Eleanor hugged me and then went back to the restaurant while I stood for a few minutes trying to process what was happening. 
After touching up my make up and spraying some perfume, I took a deep breath and walked out of the bathrooms and back to the bar, back to Danny.

When I took my seat back at the bar, Danny asked "Is she ok?"

"Yeah" I replied "I'm officially off duty"

Danny smirked "The dates going well then?"

"Well enough for me not to be needed anymore, I'll find out tomorrow if the date has gone well."

"So, you staying?" he asked

"Not for long, I'm gunna ring for a taxi coz I need to eat and the alcohol's not helping that, but we can finish our drinks first"

"But we aren't at the end of the list yet, we had a deal remember?"

"Get them in then" I replied and Danny ordered the next 2 cocktails from the list before we moved to sit in one of the booths.

"So, we've been chatting all night and I don't even know your name" Danny said as we settled in the booth.

"It's Kay" I replied "I'd ask your name, but Eleanor just told me who you are, I'm sorry, I did recognise you but ...... I had no idea"

"I guessed that you didn't know me, it was nice while I was just a random guy in a bar to you, that's why I didn't ask your name before, but now that you know, does it change anything?" he asked

"Well it means that I don't have to ask about your career that you're so passionate about, and I wish I hadn't kissed you before and made a total fool out of myself, but other than that, no, and you can still be random guy in a bar if you want?"

"I'm glad you kissed me, it was nice" he smirked "and random guy was good while it lasted but maybe you should call me Danny now"

We both laughed before my stomach growled as a reminder that I still haven't ate.
Danny suggested that we order room service to get some food as the restaurant was closing and we finish off the cocktail list in his room.  I wasn't sure about this suggestion at first but eventually I agreed and we headed to his room together.

The lift stopped at the second floor and Danny slipped his hand around mine before heading down the corridor to his room.  We stood outside room 248 while Danny inserted the key card to open the door. 
"After you" he gestured whilst holding the door open for me to walk in.

The room was amazing, I say room, it was more like a suite.  Danny immediately went to order pizzas and more cocktails from room service and told me to make myself at home.
I went and sat on the sofa, just watching him on the phone.  When he hung up he told me that the food would be about 20 minutes and he opened the mini bar taking out 2 beers and throwing numerous bar snacks at me.  I opened the snacks out, creating a picnic in the middle of the sofa and after handing me a beer, Danny sat at the other end of the sofa cross legged and facing me.

The conversation flowed and it felt so easy talking to Danny and after what seemed like only a few minutes there was a knock at the door and a waiter brought in the pizzas and cocktails.  We continued to chat as we ate and drank, usually I hated eating in front of people I didn't know but with Danny it was different.  I was comfortable in his company.

I was, however, feeling quite drunk and a yawn escaped my mouth indicating how tired I was, although I didn't want the night to end, I decided to call a taxi.

"Stay" Danny said as he moved closer to me on the sofa.

"What?" I asked, not sure if I had heard him right.

"Stay" he repeated as he leaner closer until his lips were almost touching mine "I want you to stay" he told me again before our lips finally connected and moved perfectly in sync with each other. 

The kiss was amazing, he was amazing.  I could kiss him all night.  His hands moved slowly to my waist leaving a trail of goosebumps on my skin.  He pulled me slightly down the sofa as he deepened the kiss.  Instinctively my hands travelled up his back and pulled him closer.  This felt right.  I felt like I belonged in his arms. 

We broke the kiss and he looked me in the eyes, I was slightly breathless following the passionate embrace "Will you stay?" he asked again, not breaking our eye contact.

"Yes" I replied " but I don't want to be your rebound girl"

"I don't want you to be my rebound girl either Kay, I wish I had met you at a different time in my life but I met you tonight and I can't let you go just because the timings not great."

I stayed silent for a while before gently leaning up and pecking his lips then lying back down as I stared into his chocolate orbs with a smile tugging on my lips.

Danny sat back up on the sofa and pulled me back into a sitting position using both my arms as levers. "What do you need?" he asked, I looked confused. 
"I can get you anything you need from room service, so if you're staying, what do you need?"

"Oh" I said "just a toothbrush and something to sleep in"

Danny went back to the phone and ordered some toiletries and then went to his suitcase and pulled out one of his t shirts which he threw over to me "Is that ok?" he asked.

"It's great Danny, thanks" I replied taking the t shirt with me as I went to the bathroom to get changed. 

Whilst I tied my hair up in a messy bun and washed the make up from my face, there was a tap on the bathroom door. "Yeah?" I shouted, Danny slowly opened the bathroom door and handed me my toothbrush.

"Thanks" I said to him

"No problem" he replied as he leaned down and pecked my lips before leaving the bathroom.

"Kay, do you want another drink?" Danny shouted from the other room.

"I'd rather have a coffee" I yelled back as I slipped his t shirt over my head.  Picking up my dress I went back into the room where Danny was.  He handed me my coffee and said "There's no sugar in, I figured you're sweet enough"

"Or just too sour to sweeten" I joked in reply. 

Danny chuckled while shaking his head and making his way to the bathroom.

I took my coffee and climbed into bed, sitting up but pulling the duvet over me for warmth.  Danny returned to the room after a few short minutes wearing a pair of lounge pants.  He was naked from the waist up.  He grabbed his beer from the side and walked over towards the bed "Danny?" I questioned

"Hmmmm"

"Will you bring me some water before you get into bed?"

He turned and went back to the mini bar pulling out a bottle of water.  "Anything else?" he asked as he placed the bottle on the bedside cabinet and kissed my forehead.

"No, I'm good" I replied with a smirk playing on my lips.

Danny climbed into bed next to me and we continued chatting while I finished my coffee and he drank the rest of his beer.

As another yawn came from my mouth, we settled down in bed and Danny embraced me with his toned arms as I snuggled into his chest.  I could hear Danny's heart beating which I found really comforting and he slowly rubbed his thumb back and forth across my back which sent me gently to a peaceful state of slumber.
