6 Weeks Later
Saying goodbye to Danny in Vegas was the hardest goodbye we have ever had, but as the tour bus pulled away and I dried my tears I had no regrets of the situation. Maybe I had to wait 3 weeks to start married life with Danny but I no longer had any feelings of dread, I was content and I was happy.
Rina took the kids to visit her parents when we left Vegas so I decided to fly back with my mum and spend a few weeks with her. It was great to spend time with my family but it almost felt like the last year hadn't really happened, it was all just a dream and now I was back living my old life.
Well, it would have felt like a dream but I had started to get recognised more since Danny tweeted our wedding picture. It was very strange to be back in the town that I had grown up in and suddenly have strangers approaching me and wanting to talk.
Eleanor didn't take the news of my wedding well, she said that she felt betrayed that I got married without telling her and without giving her the opportunity to be there. It felt like the progress we had made in rebuilding our friendship was shattered and we were right back at square one.
The few weeks that I was back helped us a lot though. We spent a fair bit of time out together, shopping for things for the baby and I felt really excited as I watched her stomach grow to the point where she almost looked ready to burst. I still haven't spoken to George though, that still feels too raw.
Danny dealt with all the media attention following our wedding. He didn't say much about it but he seemed to constantly stress the point that we will release some details of our lives as long as we don't get constant press intrusion. Hopefully they will back off.
When Danny finished his 3 weeks of working in America, I flew out to meet him in New York. It's a city I have always wanted to visit and it just seemed to make more sense for us to leave for our honeymoon from there, rather than Danny flying back when we didn't have to go to Dublin for the wedding ceremony any more.
We spent 4 days in New York and for those 4 days we were proper tourists, visiting all the famous landmarks and really exploring the city.
Glen had met a girl, Sophie, while they were working in America so he also stayed in New York to spend some time with her. We had dinner with them one night and they just seem perfect together. She is really nice and they both seem to be smitten.
After 4 days in New York, Danny and I flew to Anguilla for our honeymoon. It was such a chilled out break and although it took Danny a while to adjust to the slow paced life after being out on the road for so long, we did eventually settle into our new routine.
The weather was amazing and even Danny managed to get a bit of a tan. But all good things must come to an end and after just over 2 weeks in Anguilla we headed back home to London.
As we waited at the luggage carousel, I was sad that our honeymoon was over but I was excited to go home with Danny.
Danny's arm hung loosely around my shoulders as he kissed my temple and said "Back to reality" before taking his phone out of his pocket and switching it back on.
When we had finally collected all of our luggage we headed through the airport. Stepping through the doors from arrivals, I was blinded by flashes from cameras. Danny's arm snaked around my waist protectively as we stood for a second, allowing everyone to get their pictures.
"Let's go" Danny whispered and we began to make our way through the crowds and headed for the exit. Outside the airport we managed to get a taxi fairly quickly and after loading all of our luggage into the boot of the car, we were headed home.
The taxi driver recognised us and began chatting. He offered his congratulations to both of us before telling us how his daughter is a huge fan of The Script and follows them everywhere. "She's going to be so jealous when I tell her I've seen you two today" he said.
I knew Danny was in a good mood today but this was totally confirmed when he said to the driver "Get her on the phone and let me talk to her"
Danny chatted to the drivers daughter on the phone for about 10 minutes until we pulled up outside our apartment.
"Anyway, I've got to go, it was lovely speaking to you" Danny said as he handed the phone back to the driver who was so happy that Danny had spent the time to talk to his daughter, he refused to take any money for the fare.
We collected our luggage and then went up to the apartment. Danny twiddled his keys in the lock before kicking the door open as he scooped me up in his arms.
"What are you doing Danny?" I yelped in shock at his sudden movements as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Carrying you over the threshold" he said as he planted a soft kiss on my lips and then walked into the apartment with me in his arms.
I giggled as he put me down and then went to get the luggage.
"It's so good to be home" Danny said as he pulled me into his arms again.
It was only then that I realised it's nearly 6 months since we were both at home together. I'm definitely going to make the most of the next few days being here together.
