Chapter 38

"You know, I haven't taken you on a proper date, yet," I stated, sitting on Gardenia's couch.

"I know, you're an asshole," she stated mindlessly, painting her nails white.

I smiled softly, not at all phased by her insult, "Would you like to go on one, tonight?"

She blew on her nails gently, looking up at me.

"Wait, are you being serious, or are you just being annoying?"

"This is not how I planned for this to go," I chuckled.

"Oh my God, I thought you were just being dumb. I'm sorry, let's start over," Gardenia offered, setting her nail polish bottle onto the table in front of us, and turning her body so she was facing me. She folded her hands in her lap, being extra cautious not to bump her nails.

"Alright," I agreed easily. "Would you, Gardenia Rose Moore, care to join me on a fucking fantastic date tonight?"

"Okay, now you are being dumb. But yes, I'll go on a date with you."

"Cool. Be ready at 7, sweet cheeks," I smiled, standing up from the couch.

"Wait, you're leaving? What should I wear? Where are we going?"

"I... don't know that bit yet. I'll let you know, yeah? The clothes part, I mean. Where we're going is going to be a surprise."

"Okay," she sighed, getting up from the couch. She leaned up to kiss me quickly, before pulling away. "I'll be waiting for said text. Love you."

"I love you, too," I responded easily, kissing her cheek, before walking out of the door, across the street, and into my house.

Now I had to plan the fucking fantastic date I blew about. As soon as I walked into my house, I realized my mother wasn't home. Which, I truly should have figured out when I didn't see a car in the driveway. I scrambled onto my laptop, googling fancy places around here.

I couldn't find anything with good reviews, and it was beginning to frustrate me. Where was I supposed to take her if they didn't have anything around here?

When I googled 'fancy restaurants',  the only options that came up were rated 2 stars, and I didn't want our first proper date to be one where terrible food was served.

I then decided just to look up regular restaurants and see which had the best reviews. I feel as though Gardenia would appreciate good food over fancy.

I noticed two restaurants that were raved about by everybody, and they were Texas Roadhouse and Red Lobster. I knew that Gardenia wasn't a huge fan of seafood, so I immediately ruled out the latter. I looked at Google Images of the place, and it seemed to be a bar type restaurant. One that had dimmed lights. It looked interesting, and I thought it would be perfect for Gardenia. I knew she wouldn't want anything fancy.

I opened a message to her.

If you had to choose a date setting, what would it be? Fancy or casual?

Whatever you want. xoxox

Gardenia, don't be difficult. Casual or fancy?

Fine. Casual.

That's my girl.x

That's rude. You don't want to take me anywhere fancy?

Not what I meant at all. I knew you would pick that, is all. Dress casual. I'll be there at 7.

Okieee. See you then xo.

I got into the shower, getting ready. I wanted to look my best when I took Gardenia on our date. I wanted it to be special, and I wanted her to remember it as a perfect first date. I mean, unless you count the two times we went to the movies.
