Michigan State University Poetry Scholarship
Entrant: Harry Edward Styles
I would like to enter on behalf of Gardenia Rose Moore. I believe she deserves this scholarship, as she was the inspiration behind this poem. I worked on it throughout the duration of our relationship. She actually made me feel something, and made me want to write that something down. Thank you for the opportunity.
I am a Flower,
She is my water.
I am nothing
When I am without her.
She is the air I breathe;
The sun I need
For I am a Flower.
I am a Flower,
I know nothing about her.
But what I do know,
With her love, I grow.
I was a seed,
I grew like a tree.
For I am a Flower.
I am a Flower,
Her love is my water.
She loves me no more,
Withering; I am sore.
My water supply denied,
And with it, so am I.
For I am a Flower.
I am a Flower,
She is a storm.
Wind rustles my leaves;
The lightning weaves.
But after the storm's blow
She is the rainbow.
For I am a Flower.
I am a Flower,
She is my water.
I am nothing
When I am without her.
She is the air I breathe;
The sun I need
For I am a Flower.
