Pissed off and mad, Seolhee sat on the ground with her knees pressed against her chest and her chin rested on the top of her knees. The scene of Jungkook prying the rope away from her thin hands kept on replaying in her head. It makes her wonder if Jungkook knew what she was going to do it.
It's bizarre, she thought, How was he able to know that?
It wasn't long before Seolhee felt someone sit on the ground beside her. A smile crept in this guy's lips as he laid his eyes on the frustrated girl's side profile. Her fringe dropped on the sides of her face, covering it little by little. He gently tucked the strands of hair that fell behind her hair, making her flinch and turn to him immediately.
"Who are you? Do I know you?" She asked, confused. She sat still in anticipation.
"Ohh, that. My name is Jaeyong. You don't know me, I just saw you sitting in here and it's getting late so I wanted to ask why you're still here. What's your name?" He said, scratching on his nape and gave an awkward chuckle.
Seolhee blinked two times. "Y-You don't who I am?" She asked.
Jaeyong shrugged his shoulders and snickered. "No." He lied.
"That's weird," She said in disbelief, her voice a little hoarse. "Everybody knows who I am, I'm Nam Seolhee." She then hesitantly says.
She thought about how impossible it is for a guy like Jaeyong in her school not knowing her. Almost everyone in her school knows her and labels her as a depressed psychopath with no one as friends.
She's not that far away from being one either. Why would anyone want to be friends with her anyway? It's either they'll use her and betray her in the end. That's why Seolhee was hesitant to introduce herself to this person she hasn't really seen before.
Jaeyong nodded, "It's nice to meet you, Seolhee. Do you want me to come and walk with you home? I mean, it's getting late and I don't want you to get in trouble." He asked her, slowly standing up, holding his hand out to Seolhee who's suddenly stuck in a dilemma.
She had two choices: To be extremely cautious and not hold his hand, or accept it and trust someone again even if many people have broken her trust in the past.
Eyeing Jaeyong's hand, she still hesitated. After a short while of thinking whether or not to come with him, Seolhee made up her mind and shook her head. Walking home with someone she just met didn't sound like a good option to her, especially that she knows her mom won't like it if a guy takes her home.
"I'm fine," She blunted, "Thanks for caring." She blankly continued, wondering if she was actually thankful that someone cared for her. She's always having trouble finding out who geniunely cares or not.
Jaeyong, surprised by her response nodded his head immediately. "Okay, take care." He said in a fast manner and quickly turned around. He clenched his fists and gave hmself a facepalm.
I failed. I'm so stupid. he thought. It really didn't go the way as he planned. All of what he just said to Seolhee were just plain straightforward and products of what seemed like nervousness to him.
While walking out of the school grounds, Jinshil immediately greeted him with a smile spread upon her face. "How was it?" She asked and started jumping up and down in excitement. "You didn't say much to her didn't you? Why didn't you? Tell me!" She continued, then grabbing Jaeyong's arm and started pulling it.
Jaeyont, immediately annoyed pushed her arm away.
"It didn't go really well! I was so nervous, Jinshil. I was almost out of breath in front of her and I swear to God that my ears were turning red when I started talking to her! Also, my heart adds to it.." he explained with his hand on his chest, pretending to be pained.
Jinshil laughed at her twin's cute gesture, wrapping her arm around his shoulder and pushed him down, closer to his level. "Don't get too overwhelmed, take it slower next time okay? I'm going to tell ahjussi all about this if ever you get the guts to ask her out."
Seolhee meanwhile, starting going home thinking, What was that?
She couldn't believe someone just tried being friends with her. It's been a while ever since someone tried to befriend her. Everyone thought she was a freak.
Her mind was still stuck in that moment as she slowly pedalled my bicycle, slowly getting away from the school which was almost closing.
She then heard someone call me not from far away. "Hey, wait!" A male's voice shouted.
She turned around to see the guy she started to secretly despise about thirty minutes ago. Seolhee quickly ceased pedalling, stepping her foot down on the ground to maintain the bike's balance.
She turned around to see Jeon Jungkook walking to her.
"What's your name?" He asked. Again, Seolhee was surprised how someone didn't know who she was. But knowing that it's Jungkook who was talking to her right now, she didn't say her name.
"Don't talk to me. I won't ever tell you my name." She commanded.
"Hmmm? Did you say something?" He innocently asked and leaned his ear closer to Seolhee's mouth as a joke. "I'm walking with you." He invited and gave her a toothy smile. Seolhee was caught in trance as she turned her head to look at him.
What is this dude thinking?, she thought to herself and then heaved a sigh.
"I'm not walking, I'm on my bike, okay?" She said with a tinge of rudeness in her voice. "I need to go home now, my mom will kill me if I come home late." She said, making it sound like she was exaggerating even if she wasn't.
Little did she know that Jungkook has been picking up clues.
"Okay then, I'm going to catch up with your speed anyway." He laughed. Seolhee just rolled her eyes at his stupidity and started to pedal again, picking up her speed just to get away from Jungkook who tried his best to run after her.
A few seconds passed until both of them were already running in an aimless direction together in the same speed.
Seolhee became pissed at Jungkook's consistency and stopped pedalling again, followed by Jungkook who stopepd again. "Why the hell are you following me? I don't want to go home with someone like you who stopped me from trying to kill—" She stopped talking midway since she knew she'll reveal something about herself that may concern him.
He suddenly got an idea of what she's trying to say.
"Do what?" Jungkook asked, "You're Nam Seolhee, aren't you?" He asked right away.
Seolhee was surprised at his sudden question. She thought if he actually knew who she was and just pretended he didn't. Yet she doesn't know anything.
"No, I'm not." She replied and tried her best to get away from Jungkook before he even catches up with her speed.
