Bonus content: Morning cuddles

I didn't want to miss an update but the new chapter isn't finished yet. So here is a bonus scene from Nate's point of view showing some domestic Natigail.

I stir awake with a jolt, momentarily feeling disoriented and worried. I only calm down when I hear Abbs groan besides me. I breathe in, letting the air fill my lungs and remind me everything is okay. Two days ago, Abbs suddenly announced she was going to a holiday beach house on her own.

I hated spending a night alone in our bed but she was only gone for one day. I get what she feels when I'm gone though, especially when I go away from an extended period of time. It's odd not to wake up with her next to me but thankfully, she's back now.

My mouth curls into a smile and I snuggle up next to her and pull her to my chest. It usually takes a lot more to wake her but lately, she's been sleeping more shallowly. I'm worried it's because she's got too much on her mind for it even to switch off when she's sleeping.

"Morning," she says in a husky voice and angles herself closer to me.

"Good morning, my love," I say and move to wrap my arms around her. She senses what I'm doing without me having to tell her and briefly lifts her upper body for me to sneak my arms around her.

"Your arm will go numb," she mutters, still with her eyes closed. She never likes opening her eyes before she has to. She's got smudged mascara around her eyes, as she didn't bother to remove it before she went to sleep. She rarely does.

"I don't care," I say truthfully and feel joyous when I feel her smile against my chest. With the arm that's not pinned underneath her, I gently start tracing up and down her spine. She's wearing a top with spaghetti strings and it cuts quite low on her back.

"Do we need to get up soon?" she whispers softly, sounding like she's drifting back to sleep as she speaks.

"Nah," I say, not really knowing since I haven't checked the time. My alarm hasn't gone off yet, so it can't be that late.

"Good..." she purrs and breathes deeply. "Cause... I might never let you go."

"Gorgeous, I wouldn't want you to," I chuckle lightly, as I keep stroking her back.

At that quiet seemingly insignificant moment, I feel so at peace with everything. I've got a girl I love in my arms, a career that I absolutely adore and the best friends I could ever ask for.

I close my eyes and let myself drift off to sleep again.
