Chapter 18

Explanations (or part of one)

Ailia rolled out of bed a while later, Peck scratching at her face.

"I don't see why you have to wake me up, Peck, you know how to get the food," Ailia muttered to the animal, who gave her a glare.

"How many times do I have to apologize, Peck?" Ailia groaned, sitting on the edge of her bed, the creature stared her down.

"Fine," she gave in, dragging a weary hand over her face.

A satisfied smirk crossed Peck's face as the michevous mammal jumped onto the girl's shoulder and they walked to the kitchen.

They were met with a musty smelling room, not the kitchen that Rose, Jack, and the big-eared man had once joked around in.

Ailia's breath caught in her throat as she saw the wooden countertops loosing their polish.

"No, no TARDIS. Come on, Old Girl, don't do that. Not here," Ailia pleaded with the machine which seemed to move away from her touch.

Nothing happened.

Ailia shook her head sadly, opening the cupboard and finding a jar of honey hidden within. After a few minutes of wrestling with the top, she set the jar on the counter next to the animal that eagerly waited there.

"Okay," Ailia turned around, leaning against the counter, holding onto her side as the ribs poked into her side.

She already knew there was nothing she could do about her eye, but it was the foot and the ribs that were going to get to her.

Quit being such a baby, Ailia, she scolded herself, what would Pops say?

Her train of thought drifted as her eyes caught sight of her vortex manipulator on the table.

For a moment she simply stood there, blinking at the device and then her eyes grew lit up.

Ailia wasn't going to leave, she was going to show up at the right places at the right time. That was all, that's it.

Brilliant.

She grabbed the vortex manipulator off the table, a goofy grin plastered on her face as she raced to her room.

"Thanks, TARDIS," she sang out as she threw the cloak over a wooden chair in the corner.

The wardrobe hung wearily in the corner and she skipped over to it, completely ignoring the pain signals echoing through her mind, and changed her clothes. No need for the old fashioned look, all she needed was jeans and a t-shirt. And a shoulder pack.

Ailia was back in the kitchen in a minute, fully changed and happily grinning at Peck, "Do you want to go on an adventure?"

---

One tiring adventure full of...

Donna Noble,

a wedding,

spiders,

evil tin santas,

and a lot of sass later.

Ailia was ready to fall asleep once again, how the Doctor did it she would never know. However, her plans of sleeping forever were interupted by no suprise, the Doctor.

He nearly plowed her over, probably would have if she hadn't stepped out of the way.

"Woah there, Professor, in a hurry?" Ailia raised an eyebrow at the puppy like man.
