Daniel’s pov.
The door slowly opens an in walks a tall figure. My heart speeds up and my breath catches as I fear the worst.
We've been discovered! I think. There's no way out. What do I do?
Finally, the stranger steps into the light and my breathing returns to normal. It's just a soldier.
"Hey, you." I call.
"Could you help me with her?" I gesture towards Soal.
The guard nods, his facial features covered by his helmet.
He walks towards us and moves to take her body, and the quickly switches to punch me in the stomach. I collapse on the floor and Xavier is next to me in seconds, lifting me shirt to check for damage.
While I'm in pain, the guard grabs Soal and runs. Only one thought races through my mind.
If I lose her, I lose my son.
