The next morning I awoke at around 5, and everyone else in the castle would not be waking up until 6:30, so I thought maybe I could spend some time to myself.

I didn't remember waking up in my bed, the last thing I could recall was spending time with Obi up on the roof.

As I lifted my head, I realised my pillow was soaking wet, yet my face was completely dry.

I wondered what had happened the previous night to myself, but I shrugged it off as I didn't have time to think about.

I got up and got ready for the day ahead of me, and once I looked normal, I began to plan attack strategies and formation for Zen, I had no idea why he wanted this, but I went along with it, drawing the plan on a piece of paper.

Soon or later I got distracted at how boring this all was. I got my notebook from my files and began to draw whatever came to my mind.

For some reason, Obi came to straight to my head. I thought for a second, as I hadn't drawn an actual picture of someone since when I started training.

I picked up my pencil and began to draw him from when we trained together.

He's changed so much..

Once I finished, I was somewhat pleased with my drawing, and blew off all the rubber marks.

"Is that supposed to be Obi?" I heard a voice behind me and I immediately hissed like a cat and slammed shut my notebook.

I stood up and turned around defensively to see it was only Kiki.
I exhaled with relief and put my notebook in my jacket pocket along with the plan formation slipped inside of the book.

"Yeah, I was just doodling.." I muttered and I could ever so slightly see the tips of her lips tug upwards into a small smile.

"Zen has requested your presence." Kiki explained and I nodded and began to make my way to his office.

Once Kiki and I arrived, I noticed Obi leaning against Zen's glass window, once we entered he looked up and then looked at his master.

"Good morning Zen, and you too Obi." I said as Kiki left the room.

"Good morning." They both said and Zen yawned.

"Thank you for coming." Zen stood up. "I wanted to inform you, Yui, that as of your current skills, you will be working alongside Obi as his partner."

Obi shot up. "Um, sir, are you sure of this?" I asked him polietly. "I wouldn't want to get in the way of Obi and slow him down.."

Zen scoffed and then laughed. "I'm perfectly sure you wont. Although, I ask you Obi that you take care of Yui and help her get accustomed to life in this castle."

Obi agreed, and dismissed Obi but asked me to stay behind for a few minutes. Once he left, Zen sat down his chair and stared at his desk.

"How's the formation and strategies coming along?" Zen asked and I got my notebook out of my jacket pocket.

I flipped to where I saw the paper which was, where I had drawn Obi.. which was, slightly embarrasing as Zen noticed it and smiled.

"You have great artistic skills, Yui." Zen laughed and I shrugged. "Thanks.."

Zen part mumbled and part rambled about something. I tried to make sense of what he was saying but all I was able to pick up on were the words: "Just like her."

"Sorry, what was that master?" I asked and he shook his head.

"Nothing, nothing. You just remind me of an old friend."

Shit.

He cleared his throat and I shot my head up. "Sorry, it is unfortunately not completely finished, but I have the basic outline of the formation and a few tactics.

I explained what I came up with to Zen and he listened intently to my ideas. Afterwards, I slipped the piece of paper into my notebook and then into my jacket.

"Maybe you could draw me one day." Zen chuckled I smiled.

"Maybe." An awkward silence fell across the room for a few seconds until I broke it.

"Um, master, you do not have to tell me if you feel uncomfortable, but, this old friend of yours, what was she like?"

Zen looked at me and back it his hands. "She had extraordinary eyes just like yours, she also had a passion for drawing." He laughed. "We were great friends for a long time, until her castle was burnt down by a fire. Her parents were found barely alive, but she was completely gone, so we all presumed her to be dead."

Zen swallowed hard and seemed to be struggling through talking to me. "I know its stupid judging at how she was one and a half years older than me, but she was the first friend I trusted."

I was silent until I quietly apologised.

"No, it's not your fault.."

"I was being nosey, I shouldn't have asked." I stood up, bowed and straightened myself up. "I will be taking my leave master. Is there anything else you need?" Zen shook his head and I nodded, apologising once again and then saying my partings before jumping from his balcony onto a nearby tree.

I jumped from branch to branch as the shadows of the trees hit me from a world I didn't want to be apart of.

Freedom was in reach.. so why did I not have enough courage to grab it?

I stopped as I bumped into something in the tree, causing he be to stumble and fall backwards.

My reflexes didn't seem to work right, as I attempted to do a back flip and then onto my feet but it didn't exactly go to plan.

I swallowed attempting again in another precious second I was given while falling, but to no avail, I couldn't.

Everything went in slow motion, except a blurred figure zooming past me, expecting to fall on the concrete was not the outcome I recieved as I fell onto something-

or more like someone.

"Nghh." I groaned as I realised I was lying on top of them. "O-oh, sorry!" I stood up and spun around to see Obi lying on the floor with his hand on his face.

"I tried to catch you in time but failed miserably."

I giggled and then offered him a hand to help him up and he thanked me and took it.

As he stood up, I noticed a cut on the towards the right side of his forehead. I pushed his hair back and examined the cut. "You still have it huh?"

"Yeah.."

"I told you it would leave a scar.." I muttered and he seemed to have heard me because he laughed quietly.

"It may not have been if it was tended by mistress.." He mumbled to himself.

"Mistress?" I asked the man who stood before me and raised an eyebrow. "Who's mistress?" I elbowed him and winked and a his face went bright red.

"N-no! Not in that way!" He folded his arms and looked at his feet like a child, unintentionally.

Only Obi could be a badass, sometimes complete prat, and an adorable child-like person at the same time.

Only Obi.

"You're such a child." I put my hand on my face and he looked up and met my gaze to retalliate but gave up halfway making me ruffle his hair.

"So..? When am I going to meet this 'mistress' of yours?" I smirked skipping around and he looked at me in disgust.

"With that attitude, most definitely not."

I pouted and pestered him until he finally took me to see this 'mistress' that went by the name 'Shirayuki'.

I wondered what she was like.

I hope she was nice.

But for some reason, why did somewhere deep in my heart, did I have this gut feeling to slap her to moment I first laid eyes on her?
