Kiss of Vengeance | 復讐のキス

Chapter 6 - Mission

I rested my head on my left hand which was leaning on my wooden desk, my eye twitched and I took one quick glance at the trees in the distance outside my window before retreating my curious vision to the one hundredth and one diagram showing the battle strategies I had come up with.

My notebook was on the corner of my desk, open of my now completed drawing of Obi. I smiled at the picture, however my eye twitched once again and I turned once again to my window. Although, I was faced with nothing but a calm atmosphere.

I sense an uneasy presence, and it's watching my every move..

I shook the feeling of and my eyelids began to shut with boredom, but I quickly opened them again and returned my eyes to the window. "It's nearly dusk, I should make my way to the castle exit.." I stood up, and neatly placed the paper into a blue binder on my desk.

I straightened my clothes and followed my normal procedure before going on missions. 'At least now there will be some kind of excitement.' I thought to myself, beginning to make my way to my desired location.

Whilst daydreaming as I walked through the courtyard, I felt someone bump into me and fall backwards. I shook my head to wake myself up from my trance and watched I saw the girl rub her red hair. "Oops, heh. Sorry! Are you alright there- Shirayuki was it?" I asked and the girl nodded in reply as I offered my hand to help her up which she took and then thanked me.

"I was just making my way to the exit to begin my mission, I'll be going now. Sorry again." I said apologetically and at first as I expected, she gave a look of of 'I didn't expect her to be nice..' but then gave a warm and bright smile to cover it up. "No! It's perfectly fine. Good luck on your mission!" Although there was sill a bit of fear reflecting in her eyes, she seemed to be a lot more at ease than when we first met.

We waved at each other goodbye, and I continued my way to the exit, hoping to not have anymore further interruptions.

It wasn't the fact that I was trying to be rude, I just- don't exactly enjoy interacting with other humans sometimes..

Once the I saw where I was going in the distance, I noticed a familiar face under a tree near the gate. He was watching the sun setting in the horizon, a breeze brushed through his air. I walked towards the prince and once he noticed me, he waved and I began to walk a lot faster.

"Hey Yui, how are you?" He asked me and I shrugged in reply, looking down at my feet and then at him again. He cleared his throat. "I apologise for this, but as of an order from Izana, he has requested that for obvious reasons, you will need an accompaniment with you on your mission. Although, no one seems to be available at this hour-"

"I'm sorry to interrupt you Zen, but I have this feeling that someone is watching us." He gave me a questioning then confused look, and my eye began to twitch furiously. I turned and looked upwards into the tree directly above us, jumping and wrapping my hand tightly around a branch, then proceeding to pulled myself into the tree.

I noticed a dark figure among the leaves, and I immediately pounced like a cat onto the person. I pulled their shirt to stop them from walking away, but the branches under my feet broke. I reacted swiftly, and jumped onto the same branch the person I was holding onto, but my foot slipped and I fell, dragging them down with me.

My back hit the floor and I winced slightly at the pain, but the person falling on top of me hurt a lot more..

"Obi?! Is that you? Have you been the one spying on me for the past half an hour?!" I shoved him off me and then pulled myself to my feet, realising I was right. I glared at the sheepish looking man, a slight tint of pink spread across his cheeks.

He chuckled nervously and scratched behind his neck. "I was just uh- I-"

Zen then raised an eyebrow before interrupting Obi, which was more like a way to save him from saying something he would regret. "Right, however funny this is to watch; we still have a problem on our hands."
