Chapter 10 - I'm Sorry

Hideki's P.O.V.

Tears dripping from her eyes, Yui looked in shock as Obi's body began to fall. She swiftly caught him before he hit the floor, screaming his name as she cried holding him, her hair covered his face and she placed her hand on his chest trying to talk to him.

Another two bullets was fired.

Yui's body moved at the speed of light as she picked up her swords and used them to deflect the two bullets onto the wall. Her blades were critically damaged in the process, being horrificly bended but she chucked them away as if they were meaningless.

My body was frozen as I watched her protect Obi, anger pulsing through her veins.

Once more I looked at her swords lying on the floor.

Your P.O.V.

I growled lowly and looked to see the man on the sofa standing with a gun in his hand. Terrified he took a step backwards and dropped the gun.

Eyes burning, I was about to throw a punch at him to knock him out but someone held me back tightly.

"Hideki! Let me go!" I shouted, furiously trying to escape his grip. "Obi! He's going to die! HE'S GOING TO DIE! I don't care if you're an enemy or not, he was your comrad once.. help him please.."

I screamed and Hideki attempted to assure me. "I'm not your enemy, I never was from the start. Please, try to calm down. Obi will be fine, you know him."

After a moment of silence, I began to calm down and faced the leader, paralyzed in fear. Hideki let me go and I took a piece of rope that was in my jacket, tying it tightly around his wrists. "You are under arrest for various crimes under the kingdom of Clarines' land."

I turned and saw Hideki carrying Obi on his back. "Let him go, I don't trust you. Not after how you have been today towards himself and me, and for killing Akiya."

"I don't see you taking him back to the castle by yourself." Hideki smiled a warm smile to cheer me up but my facial expression or my emotions never changed.

"Fine."

"There are horses in a barn that we own. We can use those, do you know your way back?"

"I don't lose my bearings that easily. On horseback the longest it will take by horseback is an hour. Are there any medics in this village?"

"No.. our only option is to go by horse."

I bit my lip. "Why would they not have any health care?!"

"You must be a resident of the village to recieve health support.. our only option is that much."

I turned and looked at Obi on Hideki's back who's eye was twitching. His face showed the agony he was in.

"We need to remove the bullets-"

"No." I shook my head. "He could die of blood loss. We need to move fast."

Following the plan, we made our way back to the castle at top speed. Obi was on my horse and was leaning his head on my back. I knew he was fading in and out of conscienceness and I had guessed he didn't have enough energy to speak.

But I was proven wrong.

"Yui.." The familiar voice made me gasp slightly and I used my left hand to touch his arm, my right still on the reign. Obi's head rose from leaning on my back as my hand touched his elbow.

"Obi. You shouldn't talk, you're enough agony as it is. We're nearly back at the castle, hang in there.." Tears streamed down my eyes again. "Please.."

Once we reached the castle, the gaurds recognised me and let us in even though I did not obtain just yet a proof of identity.

Helping Obi of the horse, Hideki and I rushed him into the infirmary to be treated.

I'm such an idiot.

How many hours had it been? Was Obi's surgery still going on?

Anxious thoughts drifted through my mind, it had at least been five hours-

"Yui? Have you been waiting here all this time?" I looked up to see Zen who was looking at me with concern.

I nodded and looked down at my hands. "Is Hideki alright?"

Why should I even care?

He killed Akiya..

I'll never forgive him..

"Yeah, don't stress yourself. We gave him a room to stay like you requested." Zen sat down in the chair next to me. "Obi's amazingly strong, I'm sure he's fine. If I'm not worried, you shouldn't be either."

I've cried so much that I can no longer shed any tears..

"You should get some rest, you must be tired and it's really late-"

"I don't really get tired honestly." I explained, trying to avoid the fact that I have insomnia. "I just want to visit him."

Zen eventually left, and another couple of hours passed as I sat, unable to sleep by myself.

Finally, the door to where he was being operated opened, to reveal a tired looking Garrak.

"Yui- have you been waiting here all this time?" She asked and I nodded in reply.

"H-how was the operation?" I asked. "Is Obi alright?"

Hesatating for a moment she opened her mouth to speak. "The operation was a complete success!" She grinned, the tip of my lips tugged upwards.

"Really? Thank you so much!" I looked at her and then the door. "May I go and see him..?"

"A-about that." She said and scratched behind her neck. "There was something that I didn't mention."

I looked at her and my face dropped.

"Right now, he's in a coma." Garrak explained. "Just before the operation, he passed out. We don't know when he will awake, or if there will be any brain damage but I'm sure that won't be the case. He may have died of blood loss if you had removed the bullets, so thank you."

"And.. one last thing." Putting a hand on her labcoat, she grabbed something and placed in my hand. "We found this necklace, it fell out of his pocket."

"Could you put it on the bedside table next to him?" She smiled and I looked at the necklace, immediately recognising it.

"Feel free to see him. I hope he wakes up soon."

I thanked Garrak again and rushed inside to see Obi. Calmly, I walked towards his bed and looked at his face which showed how much agony that he was in.

Obi..

This is all my fault..

I slipped into the seat beside his bed and touched his cheek, then touched his hand and holding it in mine.

Flashbacks of all the times he has protected me, seeped into my mind making me shiver with fright for his survival.

"I'm so sorry.." I dipped my head and rested it on his chest, careful not to lie on his stomach where he had been shot.

"You've saved me so many times.. I owe you my life. No, more than my life.."
