SNEAK PEEK

I walk down the hall with my best friend, Tulia, by my side as we make our way to the café.

I fix my clothes; skinny jeans with and Juicy Couture crop top and my pink and white bow in my hair. We walk into the café and as usual, people stare.

We walk to our seats and take out the homemade cooking our Mamita's made for us. Empanadas and yellow Spanish rice.

Ricardo, my boyfriend, walks over and kisses me on the neck. "Hey cutie." He says and sits next to me.

I giggle and go back to talking to Tulia. "Tonight I'm nervous." I say.

"Why?" Tulia and Ricardo say in unison.

"Because this family meeting. My folks tell me that they have tell me and the others something. I'm a little worried." I explain.

"Ah it's probably nothing. Don't let it get to you." She tells me and smiles. I smile back, very uneasy.

The ring for lunch goes off, telling us that it's time to get back to these slow ass classes. Not to worry, the day is almost over anyway.

I get home and change into some sweats, a Pink t-shirt and my cute pink slippers. My hair is slicked into a ponytail and I walk back downstairs to my little brother Orlando and my younger sister Isabella.

"Hey Lando." I tell Orlando, picking him up in my arms. Isabella is 12, I'm 16 and Orlando is 4. Isabella is a little too grown for her age.

"Hey Isabella." I say. She looks at me and says hi softly.

"I go by Izzy." She says. Isabella is more of a tomboy. I don't understand why but whatever.

My parents walk in and take a seat on the chairs in the dining room. "Hola familia." My bubbly mother says.

"Hey, can you get to the point?" I snort.

"Um, not that tone little girl." My father says angrily. I know better than to upset my father. He doesn't play.

"Okay, what do you need to tell us? It was on my mind all day." I say.

"Well, I got a promotion at work and...we're moving." My father says. Both my parents look happy but I sit there with my mouth open.

"What the hell do you mean we're moving!?" I shout.

"We are going to California. And don't use that tone with me." My mother says. I can't believe this. Do you know how far that is?!

"You can't be serious!" I shout.

"I am." My father says simply. I stand up and walk away. I'll have to leave my friends behind. Ricardo and Tulia. All my other friends. What the fuck!

I storm to my room, get in bed and cry. I'm tough, I never cry. But thinking of leaving everything behind, I can only think of one thing to do and that's cry my ass off.
