The Good News and The Bad News

Emma's POV

I went back to my apartment from a long day from shooting Beauty and the Beast. Guillermo invited me and the rest of the cast for dinner but I said I'll take a rain check. I haven't heard from George since last week. I don't know what's going. I thought if I stayed home he'd probably come through that door. I guess I was wrong.

Suddenly, someone knocked. I hurried to the door hoping it would be George. When I opened the door it was a man in a tuxedo wearing white gloves and carrying a newspaper. He didn't say anything he gave me the folded newspaper and left.

I headed to the sofa and opened the newspaper. In between the papers there was a light khaki business card. It only said

in gold cursive letters. I turn it around and I read

Vertical 5.

I stood there trying to figure it out what it meant. Then I remember I had a newspaper next to me. I searched the crossword puzzle and looked at the question number 5 of the Vertical section. And it said:

One thing you've got in common with The BFG and your cellphone.

I was over thinking the whole situation. The BFG is a book dad read to me when I was young. I thought the answer was 'dad' but the word that fitted had to be 6 letters long. I was staring at the piece of paper. I went to my bookshelf and snatched the book and read the description.

"When orphan Sophie is snatched from her bed by a Giant, she fears that he's going to eat her. But although he carries her far away to Giant Country, the Giant has no intention of harming her. As he explains, in his unique way of talking, "I is the only nice and jumbly Giant in Giant Country! I is THE BIG FRIENDLY GIANT! I is the BFG." The BFG tells Sophie how he mixes up dreams to blow through a trumpet into the rooms of sleeping children..."

I grabbed my phone and called Sophie to ask her if she new anything about this. That's when it hit me. SOPHIE! The main character's name's Sophie. My friend's name is Sophie. I have Sophie on my cellphone contacts. I scribbled Sophie in the boxes and it fitted perfectly.

Suddenly I heard

"This is Sophie Sumner's cellphone. I can't answer right now but leave a message and I'll call you back as soon as I can. Emma if it's you, I've got something for you"

What is she talking about? She's not in town. I knew something was up. I grabbed my bag and my cellphone and headed to Sophie's place anyway. I hailed a cab and before I knew I was a few steps from Sophie's door.

I saw a piece of paper shaped like a star posted on the door and it said

11 West 53rd Street
New York, NY 10019

I went back outside and hailed another cab. "11 West and 53rd"

30 minutes later the cab stopped and not because of the traffic. I paid the driver and I was outside MoMA. I paid my ticket and walked around. I still had no idea what I was looking for. People were staring at me like I was part of an exhibition. I walked faster not knowing where I was going. I had the star-shaped note in my hands. I started to roll the piece of paper around my index finger and I noticed that in the back of the note it said

Night

I had another clue but I didn't knew if it was what I wanted. Each clue led to more questions and I wanted answers. I just knew I had to go on. Imagine if I didn't saw the other side of the note. Maybe I would've been more lost. I walked around looking at each work of art until I came across one of Van Gogh's most recognised works of art. How could I not see it earlier? I was standing a few steps away from 'The Starry Night' by Vincent Van Gogh. There was a man in front of me all dressed in black and posted a note next to the painting and left. I walked forward to see what the note said
