New Start

Ana's POV

So, it has been six days since I came back from London. I went to Los Angeles for my meeting for my job offer. Basically they told me that my professor from the university recommended me to some of the people he knew and since I graduated as number one in my class, they wanted as they said "the very best". The people that want me to work for them are extremely wealthy and are looking for a structural engineer and an architect with fresh ideas and since I'm eligible to take both jobs because I studied architecture, too, they will pay me double the amount. Since they were aware that some other person wanted to hire me here in Down Town San Diego they offered to pay for a residence in Beverly Hills area, real closer where I'll have to be working.

I have been in withdrawal with any social media. I've been spending a lot of time with Daniel just to keep my mind off of Finn. He still doesn't know my relationship with Finn has ended and I doubt he'll ever will. My parents arrived to San Diego yesterday only to find most of my things packed.

They didn't said much, only that they thought I was going to work in dad's family business or with my brother, whom is owner of a chain of hotels, restaurants, and nightclubs. Dad didn't even knew what career I had studied for. Mum didn't tried to stop me. She knows I never wanted to come back home in the first place and this job offer away from home was all I needed to be happy. God, how she was wrong. I needed Finn, only him to be happy.

Mum told me to call the family lawyer and inform him that I was moving out. It seemed a bit weird. It was none of his business. Either way I did as my mum told me and called him as I left the house with all my things packed in the back of Daniel's car.

"Ms. Ferragamo, please see me in my office. The sooner the better..."

I had it on speaker so Daniel listened to the conversation and gave me a weird look. He took a turn and we were on our way to Down Town. We headed to Mr. Powell's office and the secretary let us come in.

Mr Powell was a dear friend of the my grandfather. When he was 14 years old, grandpappy's dad gave him a place to stay, food, and he even payed his education. Mr Powell is forever grateful and has been the family lawyer ever since he graduated from Harvard. He's really tall and handsome despite the fact that he's 85 years old, same age grandpappy would've been. His hair and his trim-cut beard are white as snow and his eyes are blue like a clear sky in summer.

"Ms Ferragamo" Mr Powell said as he approached to us and shook my hand. "Mr Dixon" he said and shook hands with Daniel. He asked us to take a seat and we did.

"How's James and Florence?" he asked me. "Fine. They just came back from Paris. Thank you for asking." He looked at Daniel and asked."How's Daniel Senior and Dahlia?" Daniel smiled,"Great thanks for asking Mr Powell" Mr Powell grinned.

"Before anything, for privacy matters I'm afraid I must ask you to excuse us, if you don't mind Daniel..."

Daniel was about to get up of his seat. "Mr Powell, I'd like Daniel to stay if it's possible." Mr Powell nodded and Daniel stared at me.

"So, you told me you were moving out of your parents' house... is that right?"

I nodded.

"Okay, then. Let's get started..." he got up and grabbed a few folders and placed it in his desk. "When Nicholas passed away, he left a will and testament and a few envelops that had to be opened when the time came. As you know, he left everything to his only daughter... your mother. This envelope is for you."

He handed me a catalog size envelop. I looked at him and Mr Powell stared at me with his light blue eyes. "Open it, darling"

Darling... as he said the last word it reminded me of my grandpappy. I slowly opened the envelop and I took out a letter envelop with my name on it in his handwriting. There was paperwork inside the big envelop but all my attention was for his letter. I opened it and a piece of parchment and read the first lines
