"Try again" Joohyuk instructed me, dodging my hook punch.I did as he told me and crouched down in the hope of surprising him with a low kick, but he dodged it again.
"Okay, let's stop here."
After hearing those relieving words I let myself sink to the floor, panting and sweating.
Joohyuk sat down next to me, crossing his legs, "You improved."
"Really?" I asked as I sat up, still breathing heavily.
"Yes, but your moves are still too predictable. They won't have any effect if your opponent can dodge them that easily."
I sighed.
He stood up, "It's late. You better go home and finish my essay."
"Shit" I cussed, "I forgot that."
"Then you better hurry. Otherwise I won't be able to train with you for a whole month."
"What? A whole month?" my eyes widened.
He held out his hand and helped me standing up, "Yes. My parents forbade me using the studio if I don't upgrade my grades."
I took a look at the clock at the wall to see that it was already 9 in the evening. I quickly put my jacket on and took my bag. "I still got plenty of time. I can do this."
"Don't push yourself too much. It's not worth stressing yourself" Joohyuk scratched the back of his head.
"No, it's fine. I know I can do this" I took a deep breath. "I better leave now."
"Okay. You know, I would walk you home but the big boxer dude didn't leave yet and I have to close the studio after he does."
"No , no, it's okay. See you tomorrow" I waved goodbye to him.
I was heading home when I got a call from Junho, a boy from the neighborhood.
"Hello?" I answered the call.
"Jihye noona? Where are you?"
"I'm heading home right now. Why?"
"Junwoo hyung is causing trouble again. My mother didn't come home yet and I didn't know who to call. I'm sorry for bothering you" he breathed heavily as if he was about to start sobbing.
"Yah, of course you have to call me if anything happens" I tried to calm him down, "Now, tell me what happened and where your brother is" I quickened my pace.
"He started meeting those guys again. They mentioned something about a raid and left together with him. Hyung isn't in his right mind since my father left us. He'd do anything to please those guys. My mother would drop dead if my brother had trouble with the cops again. I don't know what to do."
"Your mother won't find out anything about that. Do you possibly know where they headed to?"
"You know the big house three streets over our neighborhood, right? They noticed that a boy often dropped by that house. They suppose him to be the son of the new owners. And you know what people in this area do as soon as they sense money."
"I'll be there soon. Let's hope your brother will listen to me."
I hung up and hurried to the big house Junho talked about. Neither the guys he mentioned nor Junwoo were there.
There was just a boy sitting in front of the big house. His face was covered with the hood of his sweater. It was dark, so I couldn't really tell what he was doing there.
Letting out a sigh of relief, I called Junho.
"I told you not to worry-"
I forgot what I was about to say as I saw a big guy aka Junwoo walking down the street. He was alone.
"Yah Junho, I will call you later" I hung up.
I hoped for Junwoo not to do anything dumb.
Before he could reach the house, I noticed the new owner's son standing up and leaving his spot. He was heading to the direction Junwoo was coming from.
He was about to pass by when Junwoo suddenly grabbed the boy's wrist.
To prevent the worst, I quickly approached them, "Lee Junwoo, stop!"
Both of them looked at me in surprise.
"I know what you are planning to do, Junwoo. Stop right now!" I raised my voice a little, loosening Junwoo's grip from the boy's wrist.
"Jihye" he smirked, "I don't know what you mean, I was just asking a fellow citizen what time it is."
"A man should not lie" the boy with the hood spoke up, showing his face.
Damn boy.
