His voice soothed little pieces of my scattered and burning heart.

No matter how much I wanted to ignore him and keep my pride, my heart decided to disobey. I couldn't bring myself to move away from the door.

Hours passed and neither Taehyung nor I moved an inch.

After quite some time I heard another male voice outside the door. Holding on to the door knob I managed to pull myself up to look through the peephole.

I sighed, realizing it was Donghae's voice I heard. He brought some of his friends along and seemed to be talking to Taehyung.

I leaned my ear against the door, trying to figure out what they were talking about.

"What are you doing in front of Jihye's house?" Donghae snorted angrily.

"Not your business" Taehyung replied casually.

"Do you know who you're talking to?"

Taehyung sized him up, "Don't know."

"Then how about I teach you?" Donghae came a step closer, looking at Taehyung sternly.

Taehyung stood up, creaking his neck, "Why not? But don't whine about how much it hurts afterwards."

I quickly removed my ear from the door.

What should I do?

Taehyung excels in combat but Donghae is buff and has three other friends with him. But otherwise, Taehyung didn't even flinch which means he's pretty confident in his skills.

Clenching my fist and letting my body decide in my stead, I quickly opened the door and pulled Taehyung inside by his arm. Giving Donghae not a single second to react I shut the door right after pulling Taehyung in.

Instantly looking through the peephole, I sighed with relief as the boys left angrily.

When I turned my back against the door again I noticed Taehyung smiling, looking at me amusedly.

"What makes you so happy?" I asked him, wondering.

"You."

Trying to ignore that, I changed the topic, "What were you thinking, provoking Donghae and his friends like that?"

"I was thinking of how I could draw your attention. And it worked perfectly, don't you think so?" he smirked.

"I think they're gone now. You can leave" I attempted to open the door but Taehyung immediately closed it shut.

I slightly flinched at the touch of his hand on mine. It was cold as ice.

"Please give me a chance to explain everything, Jihye."

"What is there to explain when everything is clear?"

"Jihye" he took my hand in his, "What do you want me to do for you to listen to me just this once?"

I looked down and freed my hand from his.

"Tell me" he said but I couldn't say anything.

"Jihye, tell me!" he moved his hand to my chin and lifted it up for me to face him.

I sighed, "You have this one chance to tell me what you want so you better don't mess up, Kim Taehyung."

"I promise I won't" he smiled from ear to ear.

"Sit down in the living room, I will be there in a minute."

Taking one of my crutches I made my way to the kitchen. Thinking of his cold hands, I hurried and made a cup of tea.

Trying not to spill anything while balancing with one crutch, I advanced little by little to the living room.

I stopped mid-way as I noticed Taehyung whispering something into his cellphone.

"I'll be there in a while. I'm not at home right now, I'm at the house of a class fellow."

'Class fellow', not even 'friend'?

Who was he talking to?

"I'll make sure to come, don't worry, Yeji."

Yeji?

The cup of tea slipped out of my hand and broke into pieces along with my already scattered heart.

"J-Jihye" he looked at me in surprise.

"Leave."

"Wait" he approached me.

"I gave you a chance and you promised not to mess up."

"Jihye" he tried to calm me but I didn't let him.

"I'm not the kind of girl you think I am."

"Just a minute-"

"Taehyung."

He looked at me a little taken aback I actually told him something else than to leave.

"Be honest. What would you do if you were in my stead?" I tried really hard to contain the anger inside of me.

He paused for a minute and sighed, "I'd probably never talk to me ever again."

I stepped aside and let him pass.
