Joohyuk was as shocked as I was."Are you okay?"
He smiled sadly, "I don't even know why I'm so surprised. I only talked to her once" he lifted his gaze from his cellphone, "I'm fine, Jihye."
I placed my hand on his shoulder, "We're pitiful, aren't we? Imagining things with people we aren't meant to be with and clinging onto these fantasies."
"You have a talent for making people feel worse than they already do, you know that right?"
"At least I have a talent" I grinned.
"What are you going to do?" he asked as he turned to me.
"First I'm going to finish my homework and after-"
"No" he cut me off, "that's not what I'm talking about."
Dropping my gaze on my textbook, I kept quiet.
"What are you going to do about him? Are you going to ignore him or-"
"Joohyuk, I'm not five. I don't know what I'm going to do but I surely won't ignore him."
"You're sure you don't want me to beat him up?" Joohyuk smiled as he nudged my arm.
"No, I'll do it myself when my leg is healed" I laughed.
"You know-"
A girl suddenly stumbled over my crutches, causing all of her books to fall on the ground together with her.
"Are you okay?" Joohyuk stood up and helped her.
"I'm so sorry!" I apologized as I watched them collecting the books from the floor.
She was a little chubby, had beautiful green eyes which were almost completely hidden behind her thick glasses.
"It's okay" she smiled as she attempted to take her books back from Joohyuk but he didn't let her.
"Let me carry them for you. Where's your seat?"
"No really, it's okay. I can carry them by myself."
"Yeah, you mean like just now?" he joked as he walked to the back of the libary with her.

The next day, lunch break
"And she loves Naruto as much as I do!" Joohyuk kept on swooning about the girl from the libary.
"You got over Yeji pretty fast, huh?" I smiled at him.
He grinned brightly, "A pretty heart impresses more than just a pretty face."
Hearing him say that, I dropped my spoon and clapped my hands, "In all those years of our friendship, those were the most beautiful words I've ever heard from you."
"Some people are beautiful inside and others are beautiful outside. But when it comes to me, I'm both" he patted his own shoulder, laughing.
I laughed along, "You really are, Joohyuk."
"Jihye?" someone called my name.
Realizing it was my classmate Yongchul, I turned my head, "Yes?"
"There's some girl looking for you on the school yard. She asked me to tell you."
"A girl?" I asked confused, "Do you know her?"
"No, I've never seen her before but she's really pretty."
"Oh okay thank you for telling me, Yongchul."
"Welcome" he smiled and left afterwards.
"Who could it be?" Joohyuk asked me.
"No idea, let's take a look."
After leaving the lunchroom together with Joohyuk and heading to the yard, we were confronted with the so-called pretty girl.
"Hello Jihye" Yeji raised an eyebrow, folding her arms.
"Why are you here?"
"To clarify where your place is."
"Excuse me but who are you to come to my school and decide where my place is?" I tried really hard to keep calm.
"You want to know who I am?" she smirked as she moved her hand to her purse and took out a piece of paper along with a few pictures, "I'm the one to rule you."
I whipped the pictures out of her hand and looked at them in horror.
"What's with that expression?" she let out a laughter, "Surprised to see photos of your father?"
"What do you want from me?" I tossed the pictures on the ground.
"What's wrong? Where's the courage from a minute ago? Did the face of an abuser scare you?"
"I asked you what you want from me" I clenched my fist.
"I want you to stay away from Taehyung. Otherwise the whole school will know about the little girl who has nobody to protect her from her miserable family, causing her to throw herself at someone else's rich boyfriend."
Just when I arrived at the point of explosion, Joohyuk spoke up, "Who do think you're threatening? Jihye's not one of your employees or someone else you can easily speak to so disrespectfully." He glanced at her sternly, "And how dare you talking about her having nobody while I, as her brother, am standing by her side?"
"You better keep quiet if you don't want everyone to know about-" Yeji attempted to talk back before Joohyuk cut her off.
"Are you naive enough to think that our schoolmates- people whose respect Jihye earned with her honesty and kindness- will even listen to you or care about what you have to say?"
I was touched seeing how Joohyuk protected me in front of the girl he had a crush on.
"I'll put you in your place, Seung Jihye. Just wait and see!" Yeji left, obviously alarmed about Joohyuk's words.

A/N: Hello cutie patooties and thank you for bearing with that super long hiatus of mine. Life isn't always how we expect it to be. But I guess that's how it's supposed to be. Thank you guys for supporting this story as well as me while my absence! I truly appreciate it! Oh and for those who don't know the person in the picture above; it's Nam Joohyuk, an actor whose name I used for Jihye's best friend. Since Taehyung doesn't appear in this chapter and it's mostly about JH and Jihye's friendship, I decided to use his picture instead.Love and Happiness, your author
