In the evening"Hello?" Joohyuk answered my call.
"You're dead meat, Nam Joohyuk!" I shouted.
"Yah, it's not my fault. I tried to tell you. You're the one who didn't listen to me."
"I thought you were going to babble some nonsense like you always do."
"Woaaah" he sighed, "I'm so glad you made a fool of yourself. Serves you right."
"I might have been a fool today, but you're one for your whole life."
He faked a laughter, "Funny."
"Anyways, I wanted to ask you something, Joohyuk."
"What is it?"
"Taeyeong- I mean Taehyung is coming for dinner tonight. Why don't you join us?"
"Dinner? Why?"
"I'm cooking for him and in exchange he'll train me."
"He agreed to do that?" Joohyuk asked excitedly.
"Oh right, I didn't tell you!" I remembered, "He agreed!"
"So basically everything he wants in exchange is food?"
"Not just food. Homemade food!" I said, smiling to myself.
"I hate to admit that but he won't regret it. You're a great cook."
"That's why you're joining us tonight."
"I know exactly that you want me to come so it won't be too awkward" he sighed, "You're so sneaky, trying to lure me with food."
"You're coming, right?" I asked.
"Nope."
"Why? Joohyuk, you have to come. My mother is working overtime today. She would kill me if she knew that I'm home with a boy alone."
"So two boys are better, Jihye?"
"C'mon, in my mother's eyes you're more a child to her than I am. Plus you're more feminine than me. You have more face cream than I have clothes."
"Hey, do you see a single pimple on my face? I don't think so" he hissed, "And I wouldn't be able to come even if I wanted to. My parents hired a private tutor for me."
"Shit" I cussed.
Joohyuk sighed, "The teacher will be here in a few minutes. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye bye Hyukie."
After hanging up I made the last preparations for dinner and hoped for the evening not to be too awkward.
Only a few moments later the bell rang and I went to the front door to open it.
Taehyung greeted me while smiling brightly.
"Hi" I greeted him back, "Come in!"
He nodded as he entered and took off his shoes.
We went to the kitchen where I already set the table.
"Woaaah it smells so good" Taehyung said as he kept on inhaling the scent of the food.
"Let's eat before the food gets cold" I gestured him to take a seat, "Sit down."
He did as I told him to and started eating afterwards.
Eating while savoring the food with every gustatory bud he had, he exhaled loudly. "It's been a while since I ate something so good."
Feeling more than satisfied with my skills, I responded, "Are you sure you're not exaggerating?"
"If you ate fast food almost everyday, you would know how good this actually is" he said while chewing.
I started eating as well, "I guess your mother is not good at cooking?"
"She was the best" he responded as he took a sip of water to wash down the food in his mouth, "Anyways, where's your mother?"
"She's working overtime today. And I hate to be impolite but you have to leave before she returns. She would kill me if she saw me at home, alone with a boy."
Wow Jihye, you're so great at making situations not awkward!
"Why?" he grinned as a little piece of vegetable hung down his mouth, "Are you afraid that she would misunderstand?"
"Not only that, but my mother is someone who questions everything and eventually I would have to tell her that I'm training close combat. That's something I have to avoid no matter what."
"May I ask why?" he asked.
"Let's just say that my mother has a proud personality and would be sad if she knew what I do."
"A simple no would have been enough" he spoke with his mouth full, "Why do you want to fight though?"
"Isn't it obvious? I want to be able to protect myself. I've been practising since a few months with Joohyuk. But he has to invest his whole time in his grades for the whole next month. That's why I asked you."
"You two seem to be close. Is he your boyfriend?" he asked casually.
I almost choked on my food as I heard his question. I took a sip of water to calm down. "Not in a hundred years. He's not even like a brother, he is a brother to me."
"Must be nice having such a close friend" he said, accidently spitting a little on my hand.
"Ew" I commented as I looked down on my hand.
"Sorry" he apologized, smiling sheepishly. "Anyways, starting tomorrow, you will cook for me for a whole month and I will practise with you in exchange, right?"
"Uhm, I thought we started today. I mean, you're already eating" I said, pointing at his almost empty bowl of rice.
"No, no. This is just a friendly dinner among schoolfellows. And I really appreciate this nice act of yours" he smiled, causing his eyes to smile along.
I gave him an irritated look and then continued on focusing on my meal again, "You're lucky that I have a nice personality, Taehyung-sshi."
After finishing his meal and chatting a little, Taehyung left.

The next day, in the afternoon
Taehyung had invited me to come to his place in order to practise.
After chatting a little, I followed him to a room in the basement.
"Where are we going, Taehyung?"
"Stop being so impatient. Wait and see."
I sighed as I kept on following him.
Taehyung opened the door for me and the next moment I entered a room that looked like a hobby room. In one corner there were a few mats as well as a punchbag while there was a couch and a TV set in the other corner.
"Let's start immediately. I can't wait for dinner" he said as he gestured me to follow him to the mats.
"Now set your bag aside."
I bent a little forward to do as he told me to.
When I straightened myself again, Taehyung suddenly embraced me from the back, squeezing my arms.
"Now try freeing yourself."
