I took a look at my watch. It was almost time for me to be at the house of the family who's child I was supposed to take care of.

"I really have to go now" I turned to Taeyeong before waving him goodbye and ran off afterwards.

I was a little late but luckily the mother of the little girl I babysat was very understanding.

Right before leaving the school building I got a message from a number I didn't know.

'Come to the rooftop if you want to preserve your dignity.'

Cute. I let out a slight laughter.

I sighed and turned around to climb up the stairs to the rooftop.

Arriving, I saw four boys. One of them was sitting on a bench while the other three were standing.

"You're-" one of them walked up to me, attemting to speak.

But I cut him off, "Let's skip that part and hurry. I have an appointment" I set my backpack aside.

"Ohoo, acting tough, huh?" another one commented grinning and crossing his arms.

"Whatever. Let's start. Four agaist one, huh? Sounds fair" I laughed a little mocking.

The boy on the bench rose his hand, "I'm not idiotic or cruel enough to fight you on your first day" he smiled brighty, "I'm just here to watch."

I creaked my neck as I looked back at the three thugs standing, "Let's start."

In the evening.

"In four minutes you say?" I asked Joohyuk, who was at the other end of the phone.

"Yeah. And not only Minjoon but also Seunghoon and Baekwoo!" Joohyuk explained excitedly.

"Calm down. What's the big deal about it? If you wanted, you could do the same. Your father trained you since you were six or so."

"Five" he corrected me as he sighed, "But tell me. What are you doing right now, Jihye?"

"I'm preparing supper. My mother will be home in a few minutes. Why?"

"Could it be that you didn't eat anything for the last two weeks and you're so hungry that you can't think straight or so?"

"What are you babbling about?"

"I'm asking if you're stupid" he almost shouted.

"If I'm stupid, what are you?" I asked while stirring the soup I was preparing.

"Okay, i will ignore that since I have a nice personality." he let out a heavy sigh, " Now tell me what's bothering you since this morning."

"That this bastard is back in town but you can't train me for the next month."

"And now tell me, who could train you almost as great as me?"

"Nobo-" I stopped, "That Taehyung guy!"

"Bingo, Einstein!"

"What type of person is he? You know, the wage for babysitting is not very high. I can't offer him a lot."

"He didn't seem like a bad dude. Go and ask him tomorrow."

"Easier said than done. I can't just walk over to a complete stranger and ask him to train me."

"Think of something."

4 am.

I stood up and went to the toilet.

After returning to bed I had trouble falling asleep so I stood up again and went to the kitchen to drink some water.

Being the clumsy person I was, I accidently dropped the glass I was holding.

"Shit" I crouched down and made an effort to clean the mess in a hurry before my mother would notice.

Afterwards I creeped to her bedroom and stuck my head in the door to make sure that she was still sleeping.

Surprisingly I couldn't spot her in her bed so I instantly switched the light on. She wasn't there.

"Eomma?" I went back to the hallway to look for her but couldn't find her.

Terrified, I stormed into my room, grasped at my phone and dialed her number as fast as I could.

Her phone rang and rang but she didn't take the call.

The first thing I could think of was calling my aunt and my uncle but neither of them picked up.

The next person I could call at that time of the day was Joohyuk but as expected he didn't pick up. Nothing besides his mother could wake that guy up.

I had no choice but look for my mother myself.

I grabbed a pair of shoes and my jacket and stormed out of the house, still wearing my pyjamas.

I couldn't think straight. The person who claimed to be my father was released three months ago and was sighted in town two weeks ago.

Awful scenarios acted out in my mind.

I asked some neighbours and a few people who looked like they were heading to work if they saw her but nobody did.

After making sure that nobody in our neigborhood saw her, I headed to the neighbouring boroughs.

The sun was already rising and I still didn't find her. I sat down on the pavement, burying my face in my hands and feeling desperate.

Memories of that bad person acted out in my mind and unknowingly I had started crying silently.

The next moment I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Eomma?" I instantly raised my head in the hope of finding my mother.

"Jihye?" Taeyeong's deep voice called my name, "Were you crying?"

I immediately took out my phone, unlocked it and showed him a photo of my mother, "Did you possibly see this woman?"

He seated himself next to me as he denied my question, "Who's she?"

I wiped a tear with the sleeve of my jacket, "My mother."

"What happened to her?"

"I don't know. When I woke up" my voice cracked for a second, "She wasn't there."

"She's missing?"

"Yes" I stood up, "I'm sorry but I have to go now."

"What are you going to do?" he stood up as well and followed me.

"Going to the police" I snuffled as I quickened my pace.

"Let's go together" he hold me back by holding onto my sleeve, "Just let me grab my keys and my wallet."

I checked the surroundings and realized that we were standing a few metres in front of Taeyeong's house. Since he was holding a garbage bag, he was most likely putting the trash out.

I looked back to him, "Are you sure? Because I can't refuse any help."

"Let's go" he dragged me along.
