"Are we there yet?" I asked impatiently while tagging along behind Taehyung. He let out a little laughter, "We didn't even pass the forest."
"Pass it? Does that mean that our destination is not in this forest?" I asked surprised.
"Exactly."
"Can we at least take a break for five minutes? We've been walking for more than an hour now."
He turned around to face me and walked backward while talking "One hour isn't even that much. Consider it as training."
"Training?" I clenched my fists, "Alright! You can do this, Jihye!" I cheered myself on.
I quickened my pace, catching up on Taehyung.
"Will you finally tell me where we're heading to?" I asked.
"It's a surprise, remember?"
I sighed, "Right."
After about 20 minutes the amount of trees and bushes lessened and lessened until we stood at the foot of a mountain.
Taehyung noticed my surprised expression and cracked me a smile, "Don't worry, it's not that high."
I took a look at the screen of my cellphone to check the time, "But it will be dark in a while. Do you think we can return before it gets dark?"
"Nope."
"But-"
"I know this mountain and this forest better than anyone else. I know this whole area inside out, don't worry."
"Okay" I sighed.
Noticing how worried I was, he nudged my arm and laughed, "Hey, since when did you become a scaredy cat?"
"Me? A scaredy cat? You're mistaken" I nudged him back, "I can't wait to break a leg or another part of my body while hiking in the dark."
"You won't. Now come."
-
Hiking was no problem since the mountain wasn't really steep and the grass was dry. As we climbed higher and higher, the sun began to set and only a little amount of time was left until it would get completely dark.
As we proceeded to get to the top I spotted a big house with at least three floors which turned out to be an inn. I looked a little further and spotted a narrow asphalt road.
"Uhm Taehyung?" I turned to him and pointed at the road, "Did you know that we could have taken a taxi or something else to come here?"
"Of course. I told you, I know this place inside out" he smiled sheepishly.
"You hate me, don't you?" I exhaled a loud sigh, "Whatever. I guess that inn isn't our destination. Let's finish this trip up as soon as possible."
"I know you're tired but you'll definietly thank me later" he threw his arm around my shoulder and patted it while making me continuing walking forward.
"By the way" I removed his arm from my shoulder since it was too heavy and I was too tired, "Why do you know this area so well?"
"I used to come here a lot with my parents when I was little. My real mother and not that little- I mean, not my step-mother loved spending time in natural surroundings" he let out a little laughter, "She was the only person on earth who was able to make my father spend time outside the office."
"That's what they call the power of real love I guess" I smiled automatically after hearing him talking about his parents.
"I guess so. My parents fought a lot, but their love for each other was an undeniable fact."
I've never had seen Taehyung like this before. The tone of his voice had something soft and delighting in it when speaking of his parents.
I was curious about what had happened but even I had something called sense of tact so I kept quiet.
He directed his look to me and smirked a little as he noticed my expression, "You're burning to ask me what happened, right?"
"Would I be tactless if I did?"
"We're already talking about the topic, so why not?" he breathed a loud sigh, "My mother disappeared about five years ago and my father who used to be a bright person changed. He tried really hard to be hero. He tried to be a father as well as a mother to me and still managed to work full-time. But it wasn't easy. You have to know that my father owns a little company."
"A company?" I asked.
"Does the name Rose mean anything to you?"
I tried to hide my surprised expression since Rose was a really big concern in Korea with a lot of influence, "Uhm, yes."
"After a while he noticed that is wasn't just him who had changed but also me and thought it would be best if he married again."
"Your step-mother isn't nice I guess?"
"Ah, I don't want to cuss next to you."
"I can take i-" I accidently stumbled but managed not to fall.
Taehyung noticed and turned to me, "Are you okay?"
"Yes, but it's difficult passing all this bushes when you can't see properly. It would have been better if we came earlier."
"We're almost there, just endure it a little longer."
"I'm still worried about our way back, Taehyung."
"You don't have to, I already-" he stopped as he realized that only a few trees and bushes seperated us from the top of the mountain.
A bright smile made its way on his face as he grabbed the sleeve of my jacket and dragged me along, "We have arrived, Jihye!"
I was amazed.
All I could see was the night sky filled with uncountable and incandescent stars which were our only source of light together with the moon. It was simply breathtaking.
"I told you, right?"
I directed my gaze at Taehyung who stood next to me while watching my reaction amusedly.
"Yes, you did" I couldn't help but smile like an idiot, not being able to hide my excitement for the view, "I've never seen something that beautiful before."
Taehyung couldn't help but smile along, "Yeah, that's what I thought, too."
