Chapter 38

Tony looked over at Lilly for the tenth time in thirty seconds. They were on there way home from the hospital. Lilly was doing great and was talking and singing along with her ipod till they got closer to Tony’s house. She had gotten paler, and quiet. Maybe it was a good thing Denny was meeting him back to the house. 

“I’m okay Tony. You can quit looking at me.” Lilly tells him quietly. 

“I’m just checking on you.” Tony tells her. “I’m just worried is all Lilly.” 

Lilly turns to him and asks “Worried about what?” 

Tony takes his eyes off the road and looks at her “I’m just worried about you being out of the hospital. I just want you healed and back to the way you were.” 

“I feel fine Tony. I promise you, when I don’t, I will tell you.” 

Sighing he say’s “I know. But I’m your big brother, and I’m going to be protective of you.” 

Lilly reaches her hand over and touches Tony’s arm “I know. I always wanted a big brother and never had one. I’m glad you can be my big brother!” 

Tony looks over at her and smiles big. “I’m glad I can be your big Brother. I just hope I can live up to the hype Big Brothers have.” 

Chuckling she say’s I’m sure you will be a great big Brother!” Looking at the window she asks “How much longer?”

“About 15 more minuets. Almost there!” Tony tells her with a smile. 

Lilly nodded her head and looked out the window ready to be home.

They had just pulled into the drive way, and had been there for about ten minuets. Lilly didn’t want to get out. She just sat there looking at the front of the house, with a blank look on her face. 

Tony hadn’t taken his eyes off of her, she was white as a sheet, and she hadn’t moved since he turned the SUV off. 

“Lilly” Tony say’s quietly. 

She didn’t move, or say anything. All she did was blink. 

“Lilly” Tony say’s a little louder. 

Turning her head she looks at him, fear shown brightly in her eyes. 

“What can I do?” Tony asks her. 

“I just need a few more minuets. I’m okay..” Lilly tells him. “I just need.. To do this on my own..” 

“Okay.” Tony say’s. His cell phone started to ring and he glances at the caller Id, Darian. “I have to take this. Will you be okay in here? I’m going to step out side and take this. Just blow the horn if you need me.”

Nodding her head, she sits and looks at the front of the house.

Denny pulls up to the front of Tony’s house to see Tony standing outside the SUV talking on his phone, and what looked like Lilly still in the front seat. They should have been here a while, why were they still in the car? 

Denny had stopped and got them some groceries from the store, or he would have been right behind them. Getting out and grabbing the bags, he walks up to the house. When he gets to Tony he looks inside the car, then back at Tony. Tony mouths “She won’t get out” and goes back to talking on the phone. Taking the bags inside and setting them in the kitchen and putting the cold items in the fridge, Denny turns back and goes to get Lilly. 

Denny came out the door to see Tony still on the phone, and Lilly still sitting in the seat with her seat belt on looking straight ahead. Walking in front of the SUV and looking at Lilly he meets her eyes. They were filled with fear. This was going to be just as bad as he thought it was going to be. Taking a deep breath he walks over to the door and opens it. Denny reaches over Lilly for the button to take off her seat belt. Hitting the button and pulling his hand away, he feels Lilly’s hands on his. Looking at her, he say’s “What the matter Lill’s?”
