Chapter 13

Once everyone started to arrive we moved out back to Kasey’s fenced in back yard.

Walking out the door and looking around, there was a big swimming pool with a hot tub attached.

Tony saw that I was looking at the pool, leaned over and whispered “Want me to throw you in?”

Turning my attention away from the pool, I looked at Tony and with a huff I said “No! I think I would be the one throwing you in that pool!”

Laughing Tony say’s “Honey, I was the one that threw you in first! You just dragged me down!”

Hearing someone else laughing I turn around. Not knowing who they were, I look to Tony for some help.

“Lilly, this is the Newmans. This is Ryan, and his beautiful wife Krissie and there adorable daughter Brooklyn. Ryan drives for me at SHR, and Krissie helps me design my houses and decorates them.” Tony say’s while reaching out and playing with Brooklyn.

Shaking there hands, I say “It’s nice to meet you!”

Ryan and Tony start talking about the up coming season.

Looking at Krissie I ask “Do they always talk about racing?”

Shifting Brooklyn to her other hip, Krissie say’s with a laugh “Yes. That and fishing.”

Looking at Brooklyn made me miss my baby that I lost. Reaching out to touch her, it came back that I would be as happy as Ryan and Krissie had Bobby never of left me. Feeling the tears form in my eyes, I say “Excuse me. I.. I left my phone in the car..”

I start to walk away, and just got to the patio door, when I feel someone touch my shoulder. Turning around, I see it’s Tony with a concerned look on his face. Not wanting everyone to hear I motion him to follow me inside the house.

Wanting some privacy Tony leads me to a room that looks like it serves as Kasey’s office.

Walking to the window and looking out, Tony comes up behind me.

“Lilly. Talk to me. What happened?” Tony asks with concern.

“I.. I saw Brooklyn and how cute she was, and saw Ryan and Krissie and how happy they are. It made me think of what Bobby and I could have had. I’m okay. I just need a minute.” Lilly say’s still looking out the window.

After a few minutes, I look at Tony and say “I’m okay. Let’s go back to the party.”

Tony nods his head, grabs my hand and pulls me out to he back yard.

“I’m going to go get a coke, you want anything?” Tony asks.

“Just a water. Thank you!” Lilly say’s with a smile.

Tony walks away to get our drinks. I start to look at all of the new faces that have arrived since I left. Smiling to my self, I see why Tony likes this bunch. They look like happy, fun loving people. I made eye contact with Krissie and she walks over to me.

“I’m sorry if I said something to upset you. I didn’t mean to make you run off” Krissie says with a sad smile.

“You didn’t say anything. Just some memories came back that I’m dealing with. I.. I” Lilly stammers.

“You don’t have to say a word, Lilly. I know. Tony filled me in. He’s a good friend of mine and he needed some help on how to help you. I haven’t told anyone, and I want you to know. I’m here if you need someone to talk to, or just want a shoulder to cry on.” Krissie reached over and pulled Lilly into a hug.

“I’m a good listener, Lilly. Even if it’s to say how much Tony is getting on your nerves.. I’m here!” Krissie say’s with a smile.

“I heard that!” Tony say’s with a smirk.

Turning around Lilly see’s Tony standing there with Brooklyn in his arms. Wanting to hold her, Lilly asks “Can I hold her?”

“Are- Are you sure?” Tony asks with concern in his eyes.

“Yes. I’m sure! I love babies, and I can’t let the one that I didn’t have hold me back from being me. I just have to move on. That’s what I’m here to do.” Lilly says.

Tony hands over Brooklyn, it amazed him how Brooklyn took to Lilly so fast. Seeing Brooklyn play with Lilly’s hair and seeing the smile on her face, Tony knew she was going to be just fine. And if he couldn’t help heal her heart, maybe Brooklyn could.

Once everyone started to leave, Lilly started to clean up. Not wanting Kasey to have to do all of the clean up she started to pick up soda cans and paper plates. Making a stack on a table she went in search of a trash bag. Deciding there would be one in the kitchen some where she went inside to find one. Once she stepped inside, she heard voices. Not wanting to interrupted she started to turn around till she heard her name. Who was talking about her? Listening a little harder she figured out it was Tony’s voice. Why was he talking about her, and who was he talking to? Walking closer to the voices she peaked around the corner, there was Tony talking to Ryan and a guy she had just met by the name of Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr and a few others that she couldn‘t remember the names.

“She’s beautiful Tony, how did you land a girl like her?” Kevin asked.

“Yeah, Smoke! She’s not your normal type! She’s quiet and doesn’t look money hungry!” Martin say’s with a smirk.

“I didn’t land her, she works for me at Eldora. She’s going through a hard time, so I brought her back here to help her. I can’t go into details but she really needs someone. She doesn’t have any family around, and she needed a friend. She is beautiful, but she’s hurt. I just want to get her healed before I can even think about dating her. If she even would want to date me.” Tony say’s with a smile.

“How is she hurt? Do we need to go and pound someone into the ground?” Kevin say’s with a smile.

“Not hurt in that way, hurt as in something from her past. I wish I could tell you guy’s, but I promised Lilly I wouldn’t tell anyone. I can’t break that promise. You guy’s know me. I can’t keep a secret to save my life. But I damn well want to keep this one. I need Lilly to trust me. I.. I can’t explain it, but I just need her to trust me.” Tony say’s.

Not knowing what to do, Lilly walks away from the guy’s conversation. Tony needed her trust? What could he mean by that? He knew that she trusted him. And what was that about dating him? She couldn’t date Tony Stewart. Could she?
