Chapter 28

Tony walked into her room, to see her sitting up in her bed, with Nurses and Dr. Montgomery talking to her. Kasey, and Denny, were sitting in the window seat, to give them room. There eyes, met Tony’s, and he could see the worry in them. 

Dr. Montgomery heard the door open and turned around, “Well there’s Tony now.” he said with a smile. 

Tony gave him a weak smile, and stepped up to the bed. His eyes meeting the worried green ones looking at him from the bed. Reaching out to take her hand, he gives her a small smile, “Hey Lilly Girl.. I’ve been worried about you.” 

“Tony..” Lilly starts to cry. 

“Shh.. don’t cry Lilly.. It’s okay.. Your safe now..” Tony moves to sit on the bed next to her, gently hugging her. She puts her face in the crook of his neck, and cries even harder. 

Tony looks up to see the Dr and the nurses leaving, and three sad faces looking back at him. 

On the brink of tears him self, he looks at them and say’s “Can you guy’s give us a few minuets.” 

As they get up to walk out, Lilly lifts her head and say’s “Kasey?”

“Yes, Lilly?”

“Thank you for coming to help me.. It means a lot..” 

“Your Welcome Lilly. Denny was with me.” He say’s pointing to Denny. “We were going to get you out of there, till we saw he was still inside, and we had to come back out. Our baseball bat, and golf club was no match for him. I’m just happy that you are going to be okay.” 

Lilly lay’s her head on Tony’s shoulder.. The last of the sob’s coming to a rest. Tony rest’s his chin on top of her head. 

As they turn to walk out, Denny turns back and gives Lilly a small smile. As he was about to step out the door he heard , “Denny?” 

Turning around he say’s “Yes, Lilly?” 

“Thank you for sitting with me.. I could hear you talking to me.. It means a lot that you sat with me..” 

Tony lifted his head, and looked at Denny. Denny didn’t say anything about talking to Lilly. What did he tell her he wonders. 

“It was the least I could do. I’m glad I could be here for you.” Denny tells her. “It was nice to meet you. I’m sorry it has to be in a place like this..” Denny steps towards the bed, and takes her hand and places a small kiss on it, turns to walk out the door, when he hears “Thanks Hamlin..” Turning around and meeting Tony’s eyes, he knows that Tony is truly grateful that he could be there for Lilly. 

Once they were alone, Tony looks down at Lilly. 

“Lilly.. I’m sorry..” Tony starts.. When he feels his shirt getting wet again, she starts to shake.. He lifts her head to look into her eyes. “I’m sorry Lilly.. I’m sorry I let the bastard hurt you.. I’m sorry I couldn’t get there in time..” Tony starts to dab at the falling tears with a tissue. 

“It’s not your fault Tony.. You didn’t know he was there.. I know you were coming for me.. Did.. Did they catch him?” She asks with worried eyes. 

“Yes.. They caught him.. He’s in jail.. He can’t hurt you any more Lilly.” 

With a relived sigh, Lilly lays her head back on his shoulder. They settled back in the bed, when the door opens. Tony looks towards the door, seeing it was Luke, he tenses up. 

“I’m sorry to bother you, but I wanted to talk to Lilly..” Luke say’s.

Lilly lifts her head off of Tony’s shoulder, and see’s a police officer. She starts to shake next to Tony. 

Tony pulls her closer and say’s “It’s okay Lilly. This is Luke. He’s a nice guy. He’s going to help us put this guy away for a long time.” 

Luke steps up to the bed, and pulls up a chair. Offering his hand to Lilly, he say’s “I’m Officer Luke. I’m here to take a statement from you on what happened. I know this is going to be hard. But I want you to take your time.” 

Lilly takes his hand, and asks “Can Tony stay with me? I.. I don’t know if I can do this with out someone here with me.” 

Tony gives Luke pleading eyes, and hope he say’s yes. He didn’t want to leave her just yet, and he knew she was about to relive what she went through, he was dieing to know what all had happened. But then again, he didn’t want to know all of the hell that she went through. 

Luke met Tony’s eyes, and said “Yes, if he stay’s quiet he can stay.” 

Tony pulls Lilly closer and say’s “I’m going to be as quiet as I can..” 

Luke looks to Lilly and push’s play on his recorder. “When ever your ready Lilly..”
