Chapter 33

Lilly opened her eyes, and looked around the room. Seeing Denny sitting in his chair beside her bed, she smiles. He was looking at his phone and was cursing at it. Trying not to giggle, she watches him cuss at the phone, and give it the bird. Starting to giggle a little louder, Denny looks up from his phone. 

“Sorry if I woke you..” Denny tells her. 

Smiling Lilly say‘s “You didn’t.. Why are you cussing at your phone?” 

Laughing Denny say’s “I’m playing Angry Birds.. It’s a stupid game that won’t kill those damn pig things..” 

When Lilly starts to laugh Denny, smiles big. “Have you ever played it?” he asks her. 

“No.. I’ve heard of it. But I don’t have a smart phone to play it on.” Lilly tells him. 

Denny stands up and sits on the edge of the bed, “Here, let me show you.” Denny hands her his phone. 

Lilly moves over a little and say’s “Here, sit by me and show me the game.” 

Denny moves next to Lilly, and sits with one arm behind her back, and the other one holding his phone. “You okay? I’m not crushing you am I?” 

Lilly smiles up to him, “No.. Your good.” 

Denny starts to show her how to play “You fling these birds to crash down these pieces of wood and stone. You want to make these pig things here be crushed.” 

Denny play’s a couple of times and finally wins one. “I hate this game..” 

Lilly starts to laugh, “I think it’s fun to watch you play it..” Denny looks down at her there faces inches apart. “Why is it so fun to watch me play?” 

“Because.. You stick your tongue out when you fling the birds and you cuss at the birds.” 

“I do not stick out my tongue.” Denny tells her with a look. 

Giggling Lilly say’s “You did to! I thought it was cute..” Lilly looks up to Denny again and there faces are inches apart. Is it bad that she wants him to kiss her? 

Denny leans down to Lilly, and whispers in her ear “I have a surprise for you.. You want to see it?” 

Lilly was mesmerized by his eyes and how close he was to her. She couldn’t form the words to speak so she nodded her head. 

Denny get’s up and get’s his bag from the gift shop. Walking back over he climbs back on the bed next to Lilly. Once they were both comfortable, he opens the bag. 

Pulling out the Cooking magazine, he hands it to Lilly. 

“You got me a cooking magazine? How did you know I liked this one?” Lilly tells him with a smile. 

“Just lucky I guess. Tony told me you liked to cook, and I saw this one and thought you might like it!” Denny smiled down to her. “And, I was flipping through it and there are some things that look good. I was hoping you could cook for me.” 

When Lilly looked up at him from the magazine, she laughed. “So you bought me the magazine so I can cook for you?” She asked with humor in her eyes.

Denny starts to laugh. “Yeah.. I guess so.” 

“All you had to do was ask. I would cook you dinner.” Lilly tells him with a smile. “When I get out of here, and I’m rested and all better. I’ll cook you dinner. Just you and me.” 

“Sounds good. I can’t wait.” Denny tells her with a smile. 

“What else did ya get me?” Lilly asks.

Denny reaches in the bag and pulls out the little Fed Ex Office Car that he got her. Handing it to her, she looks up at him and then starts to laugh. 

“I thought.. If I got you a car, you could always remember me. And every time you look at it, you can remember me and when I gave it to you..” Denny starts to trail off when she just gives him a big smile. 

“Thank you Dennykins.. They are all great. I love the flowers. The Lilly’s are my favorite. They remind me of my Granny.” Lilly reaches over and touches a lily, then looks back at him. 

Lilly pulls Denny’s head down to her, and gives him a kiss on his cheek. “Thank You Dennykins. For everything. The gifts made me smile, and today has been one of the best day’s since I’ve been in here. Thank you.” 

“Your welcome Lill’s.” Denny was still inches from her, feeling brave, he pulls her into a kiss on the lips. Pulling back, from her lips, she was smiling and looked at him. 

“Sorry.. I couldn’t help my self..” Denny tells her with grin.

“The last time someone kissed me I ran away.. But when you kissed me.. I didn’t feel like running. I..” Lilly stopped talking when Denny’s lips crushed down on hers again. 

When he pulled away, she had a look in her eye. 

“I’m sorry Lill’s..” 

“Why are you sorry? I.. I enjoyed it.” Lilly tells him with a blushing smile. 

Denny smiled and pulled her closer to him. Lilly laid her head on his shoulder, yawning a couple of times. 

“Dennykins?”

“Yes Lilly?” 

“If I fall asleep, will you stay here..” Lilly asked with heavy eyes.

“I’m not going any where. I’ll be right here when you wake up.” 

Lilly lifts her head and smiles at him. Denny bends down and kiss’s the top of her head. Lilly lay’s her head in the crook of his neck, and goes to sleep.

Tony is finally done with his meetings. He had 3 of them to catch up on since he had to cancel a few of them. He was pulling into a parking spot at the hospital to see Lilly, when his phone rang. 

Hitting the green button to answer his phone he say’s “Hello?”

“Tony Stewart? This is Detective Chris. I’m working with Luke on the Lilly Matthews case. Can you come down to the station?”

“Is everything okay?” Tony asks in a worried voice.

“Yes.. We just need to make sure you know this person before we can charge him, and since Lilly is still in the hospital we need to make sure this is the person you saw in your house.” 

“I’ll be right there. I just need to make stop first.” 

Tony hung up the phone, got out of his SUV and headed to the hospital. First he was going to see Lilly and tell Denny to stay with her. Then he was going to go deal with the bastard that did this to Lilly..
