Chapter 10

Alex (girl)

Everyone was learning their music pieces. I am just sitting here not even paying attention to what I am playing in my phone over and over again.

Alex will be the death of me.

"Alex, don't tell me you haven't realized that Kevin is looking at you since the moment you entered the studio?" Kamille asked nonchalantly.

"Sino si Kevin?" I asked clearly having no idea what she's talking about. She pointed to the direction just behind me. I turned to see the guy who distributed the pieces a couple of days ago.

I just nodded and turned around. "Kevin pangalan niya?" tanong ko kay Kamille. "Oo. Hindi pa ba siya nagpapakialala sayo?" she asked.

"Nope" I replied popping the p. "Why would he introduce himslef to me? I'm nobody" I said now feeling self conscious.

"Not to him clearly. You see, friendly talaga yang taong yan since birth at lahat ng mga kinakausap niya nagiging malapit sa kanya. Except for the one he sees attractive. You're obviously one of them" she said now looking at me.

Nonsense

"Soon, magpapakilala din yan sayo. Trust me I know him. Classmate ko siya since grade two" sabi niya sa akin na tumatayo.

"San ka pupunta?" I asked her. "Sa labas, magpapahangin. Pumasok na kasi si Damon eh. Di ako makahinga" she said now heading to the door.

"Damon? Sino siya?" I asked now interested. " If you want to find out, come with me outside. I don't want anyone to hear anything about this" she said reaching for my hand.

We sat down outside the lobby of our building under a tree. Ramdam kong umiba yung aura ni Kamille. She looks limp and sad. Defeated actually, the glow in her face was gone.

"Care to share?" I asked her sitting infront of her.

"Damon is my ex. You see for 2 years we've been happy. Perfect, sure and we both knew how well we fit for each other" she trailed off.

"And then?" I urged her to say more. "Until Jessica came" she said her name bitterly.

"Sinigurado niya na masisira totally yung relationship namin ni Damon. And Damon didn't even do anything about it and said I'm better off without him" she spat the words out dripping with hatred.

Well, I can't say anything. I know what to say really but the thing is, hindi ko nga magawa ipapayo ko pa? I would tell her to move on. But that's just not me so I just patted her back and squeezed her hand gently.

I don't know what to do with Maxine right now. She's being so jelly and all.

She's not even talking to me. Not even looking at me. What the hell am I supose to do?

"Max, sorry na. Alam mo naman na bago palang siya dito diba. Hindi pa niya alam pasikot sikot dito" I tried defending me but mostly her.

Flashback

"Hatid nalang kita. May pupuntahan pa kasi ako eh" I said to Alex. She's so . . . I don't know, different.

"Diba taga dun ka din? Bat di ka pa sumabay?" she asked
"May pupuntahan pa kasi ako eh" ihahatid ko pa si Maxine sa kanila. Actually hinihintay niya ako sa labas ng school.

Alangan naman na sabihin ko diba so I just offered to accompany her hanggang sa paradahan.

*san ka na? Kanina pa ako naghihintay* text ni Maxine

*may inaasikaso lang ako. Saglit lang malapit na matapos* I hit the reply button.

Nung papunta na kami ni Alex sa paradahan, nakasalubong namin si Cj, classmate ko sa section ko. Tumango lang ako sa kanya at ganun din siya sa akin.

Nang maihatid ko na si Alex, nagmadali akong pumunta sa school.

Nakita ko si Maxine na nakaupo sa bench sa labas ng gate.

As I reached her, she stood up and glared at me with glossy eyes. Shit.

"Umununa akun" (mauna na ako) sabi niya. Agad na pumara ng taxi, sumakay at umalis.

End of flashback

I should've known na tinext pala ni Cj sa kanya na nakita niya kmi noon ni Alex na magkasama. Ampota! Bokang lalake sobrang sumbungero.

Now I have to deal with this nonsense shit na pinalaki lang ni Cj.

"Bakit? Pwede naman siyang magtaxi ah. Alam ba niyang may girlfriend ka?" sagot niya sa akin.

Magbigy ka ng rason daliiiiii!!!

"Ganto kasi yun, binilin siya ni tita sa akin. Total ilang araw lang naman, siguradong makakabisado na niya dito. Promise" I gave an excuse.

Please let it work please please please.

After a moment. She sighed in defeat and nodded.

"Sige, basta hanggang hatid hatid lang ha?" she said seeking for my yes.
"Sure thing" sagot ko and smiled. Weaknesses helps me in times like these.

Kasama ko ngayon si Ervin papunta sa Medtech building. May ipapasign daw kami sa dean nila and it's kind of urgent so we went there.

"Dude, si Kamille oh" Ervin said. I tilted my head to look at the direction he's looking at and instantly saw Alex.

"With a chick 3:00 to her right" he said now oggling.
"Pare pumasok ka na nga lang. Mamaya umalis na pala dean nila di mo pa maabutan" I pushed him para umalis.

"Ikaw?" tanong niya. "Hintayin nalang kita dito. Tinatamad akong umakyat" I said still looking in Alex's direction. Ervin left me behind a van.

She's wearing a white top, ripped jeans and a black converse. Her long hair down reaching her slender hips.
Ahhh, so medtech pala siya.  Bat nga ba hindi ko natatanong sa kanya.

And what is she doing with Kamille? Dati na ba silang magkakilala? They seem close. I can't hear anything.

I continue to watch her. This is getting wierder and wierder by the minute. She stood up and watch her hands fly in the air with frustration.

Kamille stood up and turned Alex now facing the van. Buti nalang tinted tong van. Pero bakit feeling ko nakikita parin niya ako.

Her face is so fair. Lips full and red. Cheeks rosy and eyes dark and cat eye shaped.

They're so deep to look at. I can even get lost in them. She frowned and her brows furrowed. So fierce, so unpreditable.

She was saying something. I can't make out the words. She is now looking at my direction. Coming closer and closer.

Tumingin ako sa paligid for safe run and when I turned to look at them again, they were gone.

After a moment

I jumped slightly when I felt a hand tapped my shoulder.
